In a dramatic escalation of its counterterror efforts, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the demolition of multiple buildings in Jenin, a hotbed of terrorist activity in northern Samaria. These structures, according to military sources, were being actively used as terror infrastructure, serving as operational hubs for attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers. The IDF has pledged to release further details as the situation develops.
This latest action is part of the IDF's ongoing and expanded counterterrorism campaign aimed at dismantling the network of Hamas-aligned and inspired militant groups that have intensified their assaults on Israeli targets since Hamas' brutal October 7, 2023, massacre. In the wake of that unprecedented attack, terror organizations across Judea and Samaria have taken up Hamasâ call to violence, prompting Israel to launch its expanded "Iron Wall" operation to systematically root out terrorist strongholds.

Iron Wall: Crushing Terror Networks in Samaria
On Sunday, the IDF officially announced the expansion of Iron Wall into Tamun, a Palestinian village that has become a breeding ground for terrorist activities. Combat units from the elite Bislach Brigade have now joined forces on the ground, sweeping through the area and uncovering deadly arsenals. Overnight operations in Tamun led to the seizure of an M-16 rifle, ammunition magazines, and other weapons intended for imminent attacks on Israelis.
This marks the latest phase of the two-week-old military operation, which now includes full-scale, brigade-level combat teams simultaneously deployed in three major terrorist enclaves: the Jenin and Tulkarm "refugee camps", and now Tamun. The Palestinians call developed areas refugee camps in order to gain public sympathy, however unlike typical refugee camps around the world, there are no tents in these Palestinian cities.

"Security forces continue their relentless mission to eliminate terrorist threats in northern Samaria while ensuring the safety of Israeli civilians," the IDF stated.
Jenin: A Ruthless Battlefield
Jenin, a known epicenter of terrorist activity, has witnessed fierce clashes between IDF troops and heavily armed militants. The area, spanning just 1.5 square kilometers, is densely populated and riddled with terrorist hideouts. IDF special forces have been engaged in high-stakes urban warfare, conducting precision raids to arrest or neutralize operatives.
The price of battle has been steep. Last week, Staff Sgt. Liam Hazi of the elite Haruv Reconnaissance Battalion was tragically killed during a violent engagement with Palestinian gunmen in Jenin. Four additional IDF soldiers sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious, underscoring the intensity of the combat.
In response to mounting terrorist activities, the IDF extended its security measures to Tulkarmâs notorious Nur Shams refugee camp. Stringent checkpoints have been established to screen for potential terrorists, and operations continue to root out extremists embedded within the civilian population.

Airstrikes Decimate Terrorist Cells
Israeli aircraft have been conducting precision strikes targeting high-value terrorist operatives. On Saturday, two armed terrorist groups near Jenin were successfully neutralized in a coordinated aerial assault. Shortly thereafter, an IDF airstrike obliterated a vehicle transporting Hamas-linked militants in Kabatiya, south of Jenin. Among those killed was Abd al-Hadi Kamil, a Hamas operative who had previously been released in the first hostage deal of November 2023. His return to terror activities sealed his fate.
Tamun has now become the latest focal point in Israelâs relentless counterterror campaign. An Israeli airstrike last Wednesday eliminated at least 10 terrorists in the village, including notorious operatives Omar Basharat and Montaser Bani Odeh. These individuals were directly responsible for a roadside bomb attack that claimed the life of IDF reservist Sgt. First Class (res.) Eviatar Ben Yehuda, as well as additional shooting and bombing attacks targeting Israeli forces.

IDFâs Unwavering Commitment to Security
The IDF has made it clear that its counterterror operations will not cease until every last terrorist threat is dismantled. A January airstrike in Tamun targeted yet another terrorist cell, leading to the confirmed elimination of several operatives attempting to plant explosives against Israeli forces. Palestinian sources claimed civilian casualties, but IDF intelligence verified that those killed were actively engaged in terrorist activities.
With Israelâs war on terror intensifying, the IDF is demonstrating unwavering resolve to eradicate terrorist enclaves, prevent future attacks, and restore security to the region. The fight is far from over, but one message is clear: Israel will not allow terrorism to flourish unchecked in Judea and Samaria.
