In a dramatic blow to Iran’s shadow war against the Jewish State, Israeli security services have dismantled a local spy ring working for the Islamic Republic, exposing a chilling plot that aimed to sow chaos and murder Israeli civilians for cash.

The Main Arrest: A Ra’anana Couple

Late Monday night, elite Shin Bet operatives and Israeli police stormed an apartment in the quiet, upscale city of Ra’anana, arresting a husband and wife in their 30s suspected of serving as Iranian agents inside Israel.

Multiple mobile phones, computers, encrypted storage devices, and evidence of direct communications with Iranian handlers were seized during the raid, revealing what officials described as a dangerous network operating under Tehran’s orders.

The couple, whose identities are under gag order, will appear in court as authorities seek to keep them in custody while charges of espionage and aiding an enemy during wartime are prepared.

“This is another wake-up call that Iran’s tentacles are trying to infiltrate every corner of Israel, recruiting citizens to betray their own people for money,” a senior Shin Bet official said.

Additional Arrests: Weapons Smuggling, Murder Plots, and Surveillance on Israeli Malls

The arrests follow two additional operations that unveiled separate Iranian-backed cells:

Case 1: Weapons Transfers and Missile Footage

In the first case, a 33-year-old resident of the Jordan Valley was caught carrying out missions on behalf of Tehran, including:

  • Retrieving and relocating a hidden hand grenade in Israel while fully aware it could be used to kill civilians.

  • Filming the interception of Iranian missiles fired at Israel during the recent 12-day war, intending to pass the footage to Iranian intelligence for analysis.

Case 2: Murder-for-Hire Plot Against Israeli Citizens

In the second case, two young residents of Tiberias, aged 18 and 20, were arrested before boarding a flight abroad for terror training under Iranian sponsorship.

They allegedly agreed to:

  • Murder an Israeli citizen inside Israel in exchange for hundreds of thousands of shekels.

  • Travel to a foreign country to receive training and instructions regarding their assassination target.

Authorities say the suspects were also tasked with gathering surveillance intelligence on Israeli civilian infrastructure. They systematically filmed shopping malls in Haifa, Tiberias, and Tel Aviv, including Dizengoff Center and the shopping complex near Sourasky Medical Center, detailing security arrangements, shop counts, and entry and exit points.

The Bigger Picture: Iran’s War Against Israel’s Home Front

These arrests reveal the scope of Iran’s ambitions:

✅ Recruiting Israeli citizens for espionage and terror
✅ Smuggling explosives into populated areas
✅ Plotting assassinations on Israeli soil
✅ Mapping civilian targets for future attacks

This is not a far-off threat in distant proxy wars; this is Tehran’s aggression inside the heart of Israel.

What Happens Next

  • All suspects are in high-security detention and are undergoing intensive interrogation.

  • The Shin Bet is expanding its investigation, suspecting more recruits may have been activated by Iran.

  • Additional arrests are possible as Israel’s security services remain on high alert.

Editorial Note:

Iran’s attempts to destabilize Israeli society from within are a stark reminder that while the Islamic Republic wages wars through Hezbollah and Hamas, it is also quietly activating sleeper cells inside Israel, attempting to turn Israelis against their own people.

The arrests should reaffirm Israel’s commitment to zero tolerance for espionage and terror, and signal to Tehran that its war against the Jewish State’s home front will fail.
