Iran & the Taliban have been inching closer to war over water rights

It seems through an inexplicable chain of events, Iran is facing threats on both ends of its military’s reach. At the same time as gunfights took place between Iranian and Afghani soldiers from the Taliban, Israeli Airstrikes were reportedly carried out in Syria against both Hezbollah and Iranian targets. Media outlets in Lebanon and Syria reported an attack that took place Monday morning in several locations around Damascus, the first airstrike since Syria returned to the Arab League.

Syrian sources report that starting Sunday night, at 11:45 PM, Israeli planes carried out attacks on sites belonging to the Syrian army, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and also Hezbollah forces, which recently began investing even more in infrastructure in  Assad's Syria.

According to the reports, north of Damascus, near Al-Katifa, sites, where Syria has long-range missiles, were attacked. Long-range missiles belonging to Hezbollah are also kept in one of the destroyed sites. The airport of Damascus was also the target of an attack and weapons warehouses belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards located in a hangar within the airport were attacked, according to the reports.

It was also reported that a few minutes after midnight, an attack occurred near the Sayyidah Zaynab neighborhood south of Damascus, where an ammunition warehouse belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards was shelled. In addition, it was reported that a laboratory for the production of chemical weapons was attacked in Damascus, according to the reports, this site was also used by the Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah. No official response was received from Israel to any of the reports.

Meanwhile as mentioned, the conflict between the Taliban and Iran is intensifying, after a senior member of the terrorist organization that controls Afghanistan delivered a threatening message to Tehran and said that "We will conquer Iran within 24 hours, do not test our strength". Meanwhile, on Monday morning the clashes and exchanges of fire between the Taliban and Iran's border guard forces resumed, and intensified. The Taliban's threat early Sunday to march on Tehran was not mentioned by Iranian News agencies which are controlled by the Islamic Republic's propaganda wing, in fact, little information from Iran on the skirmishes has been released.

According to some reports, Afghan-Taliban forces managed to take over a position on the Iranian side of the border. The threat comes after an exchange of fire took place yesterday between Iranian forces and the Taliban on the Iran-Afghanistan border, amid tensions in the region and the dispute over the use of the Helmand River that flows through the area.

According to the reports, a soldier of the Revolutionary Guards was killed during the exchange of fire. At the same time, the Iranians claim to have managed to kill a dozen Taliban troops. Both accounts have not been independently verified due to the lack of information from and trustworthiness of both entities. Independent reports are scarce and alleged casualties have not been able to be confirmed.
