The Iranian news agency "Tasnim" reported Monday afternoon that the Iranian security forces arrested a “terrorist cell” linked to Israel, likely members of Iran's persecuted Baha’i religious sector. An official in Iran's judicial system told the news agency that the 14-member squad planned to carry out several assassinations for different purposes. This comes after last September, when the Iranian news agency "IRNA" reported that the Ministry of Intelligence and National Security of the Islamic Republic arrested 12 members of the Baha'i religion in Mazandaran district, in the north of the country, on suspicion of spying for Israel. According to the report, "members of the Zionist organization were identified and arrested in various cities in the district."

Also, according to the report, two of the leaders of the spy organization were trained at the "World Justice House", which is located in the iconic Baha'i Center in Haifa and established a spy cell with other members of the organization throughout the northern district. In the continuation of the announcement by the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence, it was stated that "the members of the organization communicated secretly, and relied on the basis of messages sent from Haifa and the Zionist regime.

These messages were used by the members of the organization in the country. At the same time, the director of the general intelligence of the Mazandaran district said that "any activity of spy networks related to the Zionist regime for the anti-revolutionary activity is closely monitored by the intelligence, and their agents will be dealt with decisively."

This was the third time that Iranian intelligence reports that it has arrested suspects of espionage for Israel from the Baha'i religion. At the beginning of last August, it was also reported that "key people in the Baha'i religion" were arrested on espionage charges. The Iranian Ministry of Defense stated that they were "members of the central leadership of the religion" and that they are directly related to the ‘World House of Justice’ center based in the city of Haifa in occupied Palestine.”

In the meantime, the Iranians reported that the intelligence documents testified that the center was connected to a "Zionist espionage network". It was also reported that "various tasks were assigned to the network, including spreading the Baha'i religion on a large scale and infiltrating educational groups in Iran." Also, the members of the network "held several meetings with the Zionists and submitted reports on the tasks assigned to them."
