Arab media reported Wednesday morning that the IDF attacked the headquarters used by the general leadership of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine General Command (PFLP-GC) early in the morning, and five operatives were killed. According to Reuters, the attack was carried out in the Lebanon Valley, near the country's border with Syria. The Palestinians accused Israel of "Murder", but Israeli officials later claimed that there was no attack by Israel at all.

The area that was attacked is right on the border between Syria and Lebanon, but according to "Reuters", it was carried out on the Lebanese side. This comes after Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel in his recent speeches against the elimination of Palestinian or foreign elements on Lebanese soil. According to Nasrallah, any such elimination "will be answered accordingly."

A member of the Central Committee of the Popular Front, Badr Ahmed Jibril, said that "the five members of the General Command of the Popular Front were murdered by Israeli bombings that were aimed at the front's site on the Lebanon-Syria border at dawn today." The Popular Front said that in addition to the five dead, another 10 were injured in the attack. "This crime is not separated from the recent events on the front in Lebanon and Syria, and in the context of the ongoing Zionist threats aimed at the resistance forces inside and outside Palestine," the organization's statement reads.

Meanwhile, Israeli security officials have recently expressed general assessments that Hezbollah is close to striking the northern border and Israel may soon act against Iran. The head of the IDF’s Intelligence Corps, Major General Aharon Haliva, said last week at a conference at Reichman University that Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah "is close to making a mistake that will degenerate the region into a major war." Defense Minister Yoav Galant also spoke at the conference, revealing that Iran is building "floating terrorist bases" in the sea.

Even the IDF Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi, who also spoke at the conference said that "Lebanon is in a deep crisis. Hezbollah's strengthening in Lebanon is a major challenge for us. We are delaying it, it is difficult to keep it a non-threat. We must constantly make sure that a quality gap between the rate of our improvements is maintained and increases and what they are doing, and always consider an initiative that can bring an advantage. Hezbollah is very deterred from an all-out war against Israel. It thinks it understands how we think, and this leads it to dare and challenge us when it is sure that it will not lead to war.”
