Aleppo Airport

The Syrian media reported Wednesday morning that during the night, Israeli Air Force jets attacked the airport in Aleppo in the north of the country. This is the second time in two weeks that the Syrians have reported Israel Defense Forces night strikes on their territory. According to the reports, the air defense systems were activated and explosions were heard in the area and they claim the attack was foiled. It was also reported that the attack that hit the international airport was carried out using four missiles that came from the western part, that is coming from Lebanon, while the aircraft used and the targets of the attack are still unknown.

No damage or casualties have been reported in the Syrian media, but videos that have surfaced on social networks present a different picture regarding the claim of intercepting the missiles and regarding the damage caused by the attack. Syria media, controlled by the Assad regime, is known to warp their reporting in favor of the regime. In this case, it is likely they were attempting to avoid public outrage over the recent Israeli attacks, caused by the strong Iranian presence in the country.

As mentioned, this is the second time in two weeks that an Israeli attack has been reported at the Syrian international airport in Aleppo. In the previous attack, satellite images showed the damage to the runways and it seems that the intention was to send a message to Syria that Israel would not allow the use of civilian airports in order to transfer Iranian military equipment to Syria and from there by land route to Lebanon.

In the meantime, early in the morning, large IDF forces entered Nablus for mapping in preparation for the demolition of the home of the terrorist who carried out the shooting attack in Hawara last month. The Yaniv brothers were murdered in this attack from a point-blank shooting range.

After the attack, the terrorist fled the scene and an extensive manhunt was launched in search of him. Two weeks later, he was killed in an IDF operation in Jenin after refusing to surrender, and at the same time, his two sons were arrested in Nablus, where he lived and planned out future terrorist activities against Israeli civilians. The IDF also carried out multiple arrests throughout Judea and Samaria Tuesday evening, many considered to be preemptive ahead of any possible terrorist attacks during Ramadan.
