A brutal car-ramming terror attack rocked southern Judea Monday morning when a 30-year-old Israeli traffic police officer was deliberately targeted and moderately wounded by a Palestinian car thief during an escalating wave of lawlessness and nationalistic violence sweeping the region.

The attack occurred at the Dura Junction near Hebron, an area increasingly plagued by terror-linked criminal activity. According to initial reports, the suspect—a Palestinian driving a stolen vehicle—intentionally plowed into the officer at a police roadblock while attempting to flee the scene. The officer, who was standing on duty as part of a coordinated operation against illegal activity and terror-related threats, was thrown to the ground and sustained moderate injuries.

Military medics swiftly evacuated the wounded officer to a hospital in Jerusalem for urgent care. His condition is reported as stable.

Manhunt Underway as IDF, Police Lock Down Hebron Region

Israeli security forces, including elite units from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Judea District Police, immediately launched a large-scale manhunt. Roads were sealed, and a military cordon was established around the nearby town of Dahariya, where the assailant is believed to have fled.

“Police officers from the Judea region were operating in the area as part of a broader crackdown on criminal and terrorist threats when the suspect vehicle was identified. Upon being signaled to stop, the suspect accelerated and rammed into one of our officers,” a police spokesperson confirmed.

The suspect remains at large, and security forces are using drones, checkpoints, and intelligence units in a concerted effort to apprehend the fugitive.

Mount Hebron Leader Demands Action: ‘This Is Terror — Treat It Accordingly’

In a scathing statement, Eliram Azulay, head of the Mount Hebron Regional Council, expressed outrage at the brazen attack and called on the government to take decisive military action against threats to Israeli civilians and law enforcement officers.

“We wish the injured officer a complete and swift recovery. The terrorism we face here in Hebron and Dahariya is no different from the violence we see in Gaza,” Azulay declared.
“We call on National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir to uphold our demands for a full security perimeter around our communities. Evict the illegal construction near our settlements through a determined military operation. The lives and security of our residents must take precedence above all.”

A Pattern of Escalating Violence

Monday’s ramming is the latest in a disturbing chain of violent attacks targeting Jews and Israeli security forces across Judea, Samaria, and within Israel's heartland.

Just weeks earlier, on March 24, 85-year-old Israeli citizen Moshe “Musa” Horn was murdered in cold blood in a premeditated vehicular and shooting attack along Route 66 near Tishbi Junction. In that incident, an Arab-Israeli from the Wadi Ara region ran over a soldier, stabbed him, stole his firearm, and used it to kill Horn, who was sitting in his car with his son. Horn’s son, who witnessed the attack, was lightly injured.

The assailant was ultimately shot dead by Border Police officers en route to a training exercise.

These attacks reflect a growing and alarming trend of hybrid violence—where organized criminal behavior intersects with nationalist or ideological hatred—fueled by incitement, lawlessness, and the emboldening of Palestinian perpetrators who see the lack of deterrence as a green light.

IDF: ‘Ramming Attack Being Investigated’

The IDF issued a formal statement on the incident: “The IDF received a report of a ramming attack at the Dahariya Junction, within the jurisdiction of the Judea Brigade. The incident is under investigation.”

While the military continues to assess whether the attack was purely criminal or also ideologically motivated, many in the region have little doubt about the underlying intent.

The Road Ahead: Demanding Security, Ensuring Sovereignty

As violence continues to spread across Judea and Samaria, the Israeli public—and particularly residents of frontline communities—are demanding that the government not only respond forcefully but take preventive measures to dismantle nests of terror and restore Israeli sovereignty on the ground.

Whether disguised as criminal activity or overt terrorism, the enemy’s goal remains the same: to sow fear, chaos, and bloodshed. The time for reactive responses is over. Residents, soldiers, and police officers risking their lives daily in Judea deserve a clear message: the State of Israel will not tolerate anarchy or terror on its soil—anywhere.
