Five people were injured Monday afternoon at the entrance to the bustling Machane Yehuda market in Jerusalem after a car driven by a Palestinian zig-zagged the street aiming to harm as many as he could. The terrorist, who was shot dead by an armed civilian was named as Hatem Nijmeh, a father of five and a resident of East Jerusalem. A preliminary examination ruled out any mechanical fault in the vehicle and later police reports confirmed that the man's actions were indeed acts of nationalistic terror.

Thousands of worshipers intend to arrive on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning for the Jewish prayers that will be held in Tel Aviv in honor of Israel’s Independence Day, but the Tel Aviv municipality took away much of the enthusiasm and informed the organizers that physical separation between women and men, as necessary for prayer in accordance with Jewish traditions and Halacha, will not be allowed.

New Reports Of Israeli Artillery Attack In Syria

The Syrian Center for Monitoring Human Rights, an opposition organization based in London, reported between Sunday and Monday that Israel shelled a Hezbollah observation post near the Syrian border with Israel. According to the report, more than 20 shells were fired at a position located west of the Khader village in the Quneitra district. No injuries were reported.

Jordanian Parliament Member Arrested For Smuggling Weapons To Terror Groups

A Jordanian member of parliament, Imad Adwan, who was arrested Sunday at the Allenby bridge between Jordan and Israel on suspicion of smuggling a large number of weapons and gold, was interrogated by the Shin Bet, which is trying to track down the recipients of the smuggled weapons. It is believed that this was not the first time that a member of the Jordanian parliament has carried out smuggling operations.
