The head of the Israeli directorate that serves under the Israel Defense Forces, Major General Aharon Haliva yesterday, took part in a security conference and provided a borderline dystopian forecast of the threats posed by Iran to Israel, and to the entire world.
There is a commonality that is evident between some of the terrorists who have attacked Israelis in recent months and years, it is the same thing that is used often to dispel the notion Israel is an apartheid, xenophobic state, and that is their Israeli work permits.
Three people were murdered, and three others were severely injured, in an attack that took place Tuesday morning in the industrial area of Ariel in Samaria. The terrorist, Muhammad Souf who was employed by Intel, entered a gas station and stabbed four civilians, seriously wounding two of them. After that, he got in a vehicle, drove against traffic on Route 5, from the Shomron intersection to Ariel, and caused an intentional accident involving eight vehicles. As a result, one civilian was killed and one was injured in serious condition but is stable for now.
TERROR ATTACK UPDATE: ARIEL, ISRAEL
Palestinian Authority media outlets reportedly identifying the terrorist as a 19-year-old resident of the town of Hares aligned with Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party. https://t.co/pZPVQiwVv8
The terrorist eventually got out of the vehicle and tried to escape, while the IDF soldiers who were at the scene began to chase him, and killed him. Military and police forces opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, particularly whether the terrorist operated alone or received assistance. What was released though was that the terrorist worked in an Israel-based high-tech company. This fact alone counters allegations online that this attack had anything to do with Gaza or the financial conditions of the Palestinians.
The Magen David Adom (Israel's ambulance corp) team that arrived at the scene of the attack at the gas station, determined the death of a 35-year-old man, with stab wounds to his upper body. The video of the senseless stabbing is below (Warning: Graphic). Three others who were wounded, including one critically and two in serious condition, were evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.
Shocking and upsetting footage from a barbaric terror attack in Ariel today. 2 Israelis were killed in terror attacks, 3 injured. pic.twitter.com/1OmvRWwDgG
According to the hospital, a man in his 40s is in 'very serious and unstable condition' suffering from injuries to the head and chest. In addition, a man in his 30s is in 'serious but stable condition' and also suffering a chest injury. The third injured is also in his 30s and in 'serious but stable condition,' his injuries were to his neck.
MDA medics and paramedics who then arrived at the scene of the accident on Route 5, determined the death of a 50-year-old man, with multiple systemic injuries, and evacuated a 35-year-old man in serious condition to the nearby Beilinson Hospital.
It is about several scenes, it started as a stabbing and the theft of the car of civilian, continued to the intersection where he carried out a run-over attack.
MDA medic, Tomer Payne, and MDA emergency medicine medic Anatoly Pirer said in a joint statement: "Near the pumps at the gas station, there were 2 wounded people who suffered from stab wounds. A 35-year-old man was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, and after medical examinations, an MDA paramedic determined his death. The second injured, a man about 40 years old, was unconscious. We gave him the life-saving medical treatment that included administering drugs and plasma in order to stabilize his condition and evacuated him to the hospital in serious condition where he was sedated and ventilated."
An emergency medic for MDA, Odalia Shaf, added that: "I was on the road and noticed what looked like a car accident. I saw a wounded man lying on the road and immediately approached him and while I started to treat him I heard shouts, 'terrorist terrorist', and saw a man running with a knife in our direction. We started to run away and people pulled out guns. He managed to stab a 35-year-old man. I approached the wounded man who was severely stabbed and stopped his bleeding and very quickly an additional large force of medics arrived at the scene and treated the injured."
Update: Another #Israeli who was injured in today's #terror attack in Ariel has succumbed to their wounds. In total, 3 Israelis were murdered in this hateful act. Our hearts go out to the loved ones of the victims in the wake of this tragedy. May their memories be a blessing🕯️ pic.twitter.com/cef7AMLlSQ
The “Palestinian Popular Front”, a faction of Fatah, which is the party that Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas heads up, praised the attack: "We praise the heroic stabbing attack in Salafit (Arabic name for Ariel Region) emphasizing that this is a message that confirms the insistence of our people to continue the resistance until the occupation is defeated." The admission from the governing party of the Palestinian Authority is troubling as it spells out support for terror from a State entity that collects billions of dollars each year from the United Nations as well as dozens of Western and Arabic countries.
World-renowned start-up consultant, columnist, and podcaster, Hillel Fuld tweeted out his outrage over the fact that the terrorist was in fact gainfully employed in an international company with a massive Israeli footprint located in the office park near where the attack took place. In his five-thread missive, Fuld pointed out that these attacks have less to do with the conditions Palestinians live in and everything to do with 'a clash of civilizations' fueled by radical Islamic fundamentalism.
The false narrative claiming that Palestinian terror has ANYTHING to do with suffering in Gaza has to stop. My brother’s murderer lived an affluent life. Today’s murderer did as well. This isn’t about occupation, it’s not about land, it’s about radical Islamic fundamentalism.
Fuld's brother, Ari was murdered in 2018 by a Palestinian terrorist who came from affluence. Ari, who was a well-known pro-Israel advocate who raised funds for Israeli soldiers to have better protective gear and clothes, was stabbed in the back by a 17-year-old. Instead of staying put and letting others tend to his wounds, Ari ran after his attacker and after a significant chase was able to neutralize him. Ari succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead at Jerusalem's Shaare Tzedek hospital. Ari's determination to protect others from his attacker is seen as one of the bravest acts of heroism and has vaulted him to legendary status in Israel and abroad.
In the last two large-scale breaches to Israel Defense Forces' bases, the Znobar base in the north and Sedot Taiman in the south, more bullets were stolen than what the Israel Police seized in 2021 and 2022 combined. In those years, about 65,000 bullets were seized by the police and in the last two thefts, about 100,000 bullets were stolen, and they were not even the only thefts from IDF bases in recent months.
Defense Minister Gantz held one of his last briefings for reporters and addressed a series of issues on the security agenda, from the Iranian threat to the current situation in Judea and Samaria.
On the Iranian issue, Gantz said: "I predict that Iranian [regime] courage will receive a boost as a result of the ties with Russia and the struggle between the powers. This will have an impact on the entire region."
