Farah Raslan's Knafe Kaak Is A Must Try When Visiting The Agamon Market

Agamon Market is a food market complex built in northern Israel in 2018.  It took the investment of Haim Ohayon, an Israeli businessman, who put in around 40 million shekels for the project come to life. Ohayon also owns the Galilion Hotel and the Hapoel Gilboa / Galil basketball team, among other businesses in the area.

Taking up a massive 4,000 square meters, according to Ohayon, the complex was built to meet the needs of the millions of tourists who visit the Upper Galilee every year prior to the COVID lockdowns, as well as the residents of the north. Now that travel is back and tourists have returned to Israel in force, diners can enjoy a diverse culinary experience; while the residents in the area have a wider variety of job opportunities.

The culinary consultant of the place and one of the managers of the place is none other than the famous Israeli chef Aviv Moshe who also opened a food stand in the complex.

It is a large structure with a surreal view, surrounded by a mountainous and bright green landscape that is completely unique to Israel’s Northern District. The Hula Valley, Upper Galilee, and the Naftali Mountains are all in the view from the structure and make for some of the world's most gorgeous scenery.

One of the most amazing treats and a must-try if you are in the neighborhood is Knafe Kaak (כנאפה כעכ) which is owned by one of the best contestants on Israel's Master Chef, Farah Raslan, who appeared in the eighth season. Chef Raslan was born in Southern Lebanon and moved to Israel after the Lebanon War. Her father was a fighter for the South Lebanese Army during the civil war and as the Islamists took over, her family moved. Her Lebanese influence truly comes out and if you are looking for a real Israeli-Arabic treat, you can not get better than Farah's Knafe. It is truly divine.

It seems as if Israeli chefs are opening more and more pita and fast food stalls around the country, such as Chef Eyal Shani's buffet, Chef Meir Adoni's Donia and now also Chef Aviv Moshe's pita stand in the new market, whose goal perhaps, could be to offer affordable delicious local cuisine to the masses.

The market should be not only exciting for people living in northern Israel, but for all those who seek to tour Israel’s stunning, lush north. The staff running the entire operation, as well as the cooks in different stands, are all highly professional. It is located perfectly for those who are visiting sites like the Jordan river, Golan heights, and even the ancient city of Acre.

Israeli street food has recently not only gained popularity throughout the world but has bought the trust of locals that have forgotten their cuisine is most definitely world-class.
