Despite Palestinian media and the New York Times' reporter Raja Abdulrahim who has a long history of anti-Israeli bias alleging otherwise, the Israeli military forces have not withdrawn from the Palestinian city of Jenin. So far, Israeli forces have staged a robust 10-day counterterrorism operation targeting entrenched militant groups. These groups, operating from within Jenin, have long utilized the city as a staging ground for terror attacks against Israeli civilians and military personnel. Despite Palestinian media's portrayal of the Israeli actions as an indiscriminate assault on civilians, including claims of children among the 21 casualties, the reality—as evidenced by the militants' own social media—is starkly different. Many of those identified as "children" were, in fact, adolescent combatants, glorified as martyrs for their armed resistance against what they termed the "Zionist occupation." The IDF maintains that its "operations are still ongoing until all objectives are met."

Addressing the singular condition that Israel has maintained since seizing control over Rafah, Netanyahu revealed that Israel would in fact consider withdrawing troops from the strategically vital Philadelphi Corridor, however this could only occur during Phase 2 of a hostage release deal as there is concern based on past experience that Hamas will violate the deal before phase 2. Netanyahu did emphasize though, that any such move would be contingent upon strict conditions that ensure the corridor remains impenetrable to terrorist activities.

First, a poll from the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) showed an overwhelming 78.5% of Jewish respondents expressed deep skepticism regarding the likelihood of such a deal materializing in the near future.
