President Isaac Herzog toured the Beit El settlement in Samaria this past Wednesday. The president began his tour at the famed Beit El yeshiva, where he met with the rabbi of the yeshiva, Zalman Baruch Melamed, and with the head of the local council Shai Alon. After that, he continued to the biblical site said to be the place where Jacob had his famous 'ladder' dream mentioned in Genesis 28, at the site children from the community welcomed him. From there, Herzog continued to the "Ramat Beit-El" neighborhood where the president and the head of the council inaugurated the new neighborhood and planted an olive tree.

Later, the President met with the Nahal youth group organization, and congratulated them and their instructors, for their work the President told them: "You have energy, you sing and have been amazing hosts to me."

The president turned to the students and said: "I am meeting the young Israeli generation, the society here is very diverse and interesting. With different backgrounds - with different beliefs, perceptions, religions, and lifestyles. I think this is a great place that gives you a great study box and I wish you success." At the end of the tour, he placed a mezuzah at the entrance to the new office of the head of the council in the presence of the settlement's veterans and inaugurated a new residence for the council in a festive ceremony.

The President of the State said at the end of his visit: "I had a great day here. In the atmosphere, with the people, and I would even say in the faith and religious outlook. I went through all the ages; from the children and the youth and the students in in-depth conversations to the adults, the veterans of the settlement, and it was very gratifying and impressive to be here.ā€

ā€œI wish for all of us that from here and everywhere in the country, we demand peace to near and far and extend one hand to the other and one to each other. We will represent, and we will talk and lower the tensions and unite the people under the great canopy called the people of Israel, and the great rights it has. Let us understand that our only way as a people is to talk, compromise, and reach deep understandings because we have very big challenges that stand before us from generation to generation. The order of unity is the honorable order of the hour. Thank you very much for the great privilege, bless you, and may we know only good news."
