One such example occurred in Manhattan, New York, where pro-Palestinian protestors, under the banner of the Within Our Lifetime Organization, gathered at Union Square. During this assembly, an activist, Abdallah Aqel, was recorded inciting the crowd with chants praising Hamas' military wing and urging attacks on Tel Aviv.
This surge in hostility has not been confined to New York. In Teaneck, New Jersey, the Jewish community has faced repeated confrontations. Rabbi Daniel Friedman reported an alarming trend of protests targeting synagogues and Jewish gatherings, with protestors employing deeply offensive language and suggesting that Jews should "go back to Auschwitz." Such events have culminated in a notable incident outside Teaneck's largest synagogue during an event held by ZAKA volunteers, aimed at recounting the October 7 atrocities perpetrated by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in southern Israel. Protestors challenged ZAKA's narrative, accusing it of perpetuating falsehoods to justify violence against Gaza.
