Jamaa Islamiya’s Deadly Legacy
Jamaa Islamiya, a terror organization founded in the 1960s, has been a persistent thorn in Israel’s side, orchestrating numerous attacks in collaboration with Hamas. Its armed wing, the Fajr Forces, established in 1982 during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, has been a formidable adversary. In a statement, Jamaa Islamiya condemned the airstrike as a “treacherous Zionist raid,” mourning the loss of Jabara, a commander who played a crucial role in their nefarious activities.
Rising Casualties and Cross-Border Violence
Since the onset of hostilities in October when Hezboallah bagan firing rockets at Isaeli communities in support of Hamas, Israeli retaliatory strikes have claimed 512 lives in Lebanon, predominantly fighters, including nine from Jamaa Islamiya. Tragically, 104 civilians have also perished. On the Israeli side, the toll includes 17 soldiers and 13 civilians, along with hundreds of homes destroyed and entire cities forcibly evacuated due to the threat of Hezbollah rockets, underscoring the human cost of this relentless conflict.
