Five of the "innocent" militants killed in Jenin (Jenin News - Telegram)

In a significant escalation of military operations, at least nine Palestinians were reportedly killed in a series of targeted airstrikes on the Jenin refugee camp. These operations were confirmed by the IDF, which executed two aerial strikes targeting identified terror squads. The ongoing raid, initiated on Monday, aims to apprehend wanted terror suspects from the Jenin area.

Ground and Air Operations

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), in coordination with Border Police and Engineering Corps units, have established a strong presence within the refugee camp. As of now, four terrorists have been neutralized, and there have been no reported injuries among Israeli troops. The operation continues to evolve, with the Israeli Air Force deploying drones to strike groups of gunmen in two distinct incidents. These actions are part of a broader counterterrorism effort within Jenin.

Extensive Operations Since October 7

Since October 7, the IDF has ramped up operations within West Bank refugee camps. These efforts are aimed at thwarting potential terror attacks and ensuring the safe maneuverability of Israeli forces in these volatile regions.

Night Operations and Arrests

On Tuesday night, undercover units from the Judea and Samaria Border Police, supported by IDF troops and intelligence from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), conducted a series of operations targeting terrorists and their infrastructure in Jenin. During these operations, a suspect linked to terrorist activities was apprehended. The suspect attempted to flee alongside another armed individual, prompting undercover police to engage, resulting in the elimination of the armed terrorist and the neutralization of the suspect.

Hostile Engagements

Throughout the operation, security forces faced numerous attacks from armed terrorists, who fired weapons and threw improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Border Police officers responded decisively, killing four terrorists and neutralizing an additional ten who posed imminent threats. Remarkably, there were no casualties among Israeli forces.

Casualty Reports and Controversy

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that the death toll from the Israeli airstrikes had risen to five. Among the deceased was an 18-year-old identified by Palestinian media as Ahmed Hassam al-Saadi, alleged to be a volunteer paramedic. Contradicting these claims, social media images surfaced showing al-Saadi brandishing weapons and displaying terror-related symbols.

Additional Incident: Stabbing Attack at Judea-Jerusalem Border

On Tuesday morning, a Border Police soldier was lightly wounded in a stabbing attack near the southern tunnel checkpoint at the Judea-Jerusalem border. The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m., during a routine inspection of a passenger bus. As passengers disembarked for inspection, one individual attacked a Border Police officer with a screwdriver. During the struggle, another Border Police soldier at the scene shot and killed the assailant. The injured officer was promptly evacuated and treated for minor injuries. Subsequent searches revealed additional sharp tools in the possession of the attacker.

The IDF's sustained operations within the Jenin refugee camp underscore Israel's commitment to counterterrorism and the protection of its citizens. Despite the complexities and controversies surrounding these actions, the IDF continues to prioritize the safety and security of its forces and the broader Israeli public. The ongoing developments in Jenin remain a critical focus as the IDF navigates the challenges of maintaining stability and combating terrorism in the region.
