A security camera picture of Nukhba commander Wadiya in Netiv HaAsara

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have delivered a psychological blow to Hamas, eliminating Ahmad Fuzi Nasser Muhammad Wadiya, the notorious commander of the Hamas elite unit responsible for the heinous assault on the peaceful Israeli community of Netiv HaAsara during the unprecedented October 7 terrorist attack. This operation marks a significant victory in Israel's ongoing efforts to dismantle the terror infrastructure of Hamas, a group responsible for countless atrocities against innocent civilians.

Ahmad Wadiya, a key architect of terror within Hamas, had become infamous for his role in leading the paragliding squad that infiltrated Netiv HaAsara, a tranquil moshav near the Gaza border. On that fateful day, Wadiya and his men swooped down on the unsuspecting community, bringing death and destruction in their wake. The attack claimed the lives of 22 residents, a tragic loss that sent shockwaves throughout Israel.

In a chilling display of callousness and cruelty, Wadiya was captured on video inside the Taasa family home, where he was seen casually sipping a Coca-Cola in the presence of the surviving children of Gil Taasa, moments after brutally murdering their father. This act of cold-blooded barbarity became a symbol of the inhumanity of Hamas and the ruthless nature of its operatives.

The IDF, in collaboration with the Shin Bet and the Gaza Division, carried out a precision airstrike near Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza, specifically targeting a compound used by Hamas's Daraj Tuffah Battalion. This operation was not just about eliminating Wadiya; it was a calculated effort to decimate the command structure of Hamas and to send a clear message that Israel will relentlessly pursue those who threaten its citizens.

The strike resulted in the elimination of eight Hamas operatives, including Wadiya. Among the others killed was a specialist in engineering, sniping, and anti-tank warfare, responsible for supplying the explosives used to breach the Gaza security barrier on October 7. This individual’s death represents a significant setback to Hamas’s operational capabilities.

The IDF’s operation outside the Al-Ahli Hospital was carried out with extraordinary precision to minimize civilian casualties, a testament to Israel's commitment to ethical warfare even against a ruthless enemy that often uses civilians as human shields. The hospital, a site of considerable international attention, remained unharmed, reflecting the IDF's strategic acumen and moral restraint.

The Taasa family, still reeling from the loss of their father and husband, was informed of Wadiya’s elimination. For Gil’s surviving sons, Koren and Shay, who witnessed their father’s heroic last stand against the terrorists, this news offers a small measure of justice. Gil Taasa, a senior firefighter from Ashkelon, sacrificed his life to protect his children, leaping onto a grenade to shield them from the explosion. His bravery in the face of overwhelming odds will forever be remembered as a testament to the indomitable spirit of Israel’s people.

The IDF’s success in eliminating Wadiya underscores the relentless and unyielding nature of Israel’s campaign against those who seek to harm its citizens. As the war in Gaza continues, the IDF remains steadfast in its mission to protect Israel and to bring every last perpetrator of the October 7 massacre to justice. The elimination of Ahmad Wadiya is a significant step in this ongoing battle, and it serves as a reminder that Israel will stop at nothing to ensure the safety and security of its people.
