Almost half a year after the Israel Defense Forces last operation against the Islamic Jihad in Gaza, it seems that in the meantime the quiet in the southern part of Israel has been relatively preserved. With the lack of Iranian funds as reported by The Judean, and new Qatari and Egyptian-funded housing projects being developed, Hamas and The Islamic Jihad have a lot to lose if they were to disrupt the current peace.
The residents of the Gaza Strip are closely following the Egyptian projects for the construction of three high-rise residential neighborhoods, in Jabalia and Beit Lahia in the north of the Gaza Strip as well as in the center. As part of the Egyptian contribution to the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, work is also underway to develop Rashid Street, which is located along the sea in the northern area of the Gaza Strip.

Naji Sarhan, who is in charge of the Housing Ministry in Gaza on behalf of Hamas, stated that the construction of the three Egyptian neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip will be completed by the middle of 2023. The new neighborhoods will include 2,500 apartments, each with an area of approximately 140 square meters. As for the costs, the price of the average apartment is expected to be about 50,000 dollars, and the buyers of the apartments will be able to pay for them using some form of a mortgage.
In the future, a mechanism will probably be established according to which it will be decided which families are eligible to receive apartments, but it should be noted that Hamas is likely to try and influence the elections through their method of allocating apartments.

All these construction developments are strongly supported by most Israeli officials who see them as vital to sustainable peace. Last year, the government based on the recommendation of the coordinator of government operations in the territories raised the quota of work permits for residents of the Gaza Strip who come to work in Israel to about 17,000.
In Arabic press review, Egypt has started a new construction project in preparation for an international road running from Gaza's coast to the border where Egypt, Israel and Gaza meet.

The project comes at a time when Egyptian activity has risen in Gazahttps://t.co/sleWxDukLr
The increased work permit quota is also seen as part of the measures for security, peace, and stability in the region. This is an unprecedented step that has led to a real improvement in the economic situation in Gaza and this affects profits.
The Qatari grant, the new neighborhoods that the Egyptians are establishing in the Gaza Strip, and the work permits issued by Israel, are all part of why the residents of the Gaza Strip look at their lives with the utmost optimism and feel the economic recovery. Although Gaza is still far from being the French Riviera of the Middle East, as long as peace is maintained, and goods enter and are exported from the Strip, there is hope for an improved and peaceful Gaza.
