Soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces along with an elite undercover unit of the Police's Border Patrol operated Thursday morning under the direction of the Shin Bet, in the town of Jabba near Jenin and stopped three terrorists as they were on their way to carry out an attack against Israeli citizens.

According to the report, the three terrorists were part of a terrorist cell that was on its way to carry out a major attack in Israel. The suspected terrorists opened fire on the Israeli forces as it became clear that the security forces had set up an ambush to capture them; the joint Israeli task force returned fire, killing the terrorists. The Israeli security forces suffered no casualties.

The forces had initially entered Jabba to arrest "wanted persons who carried out several shooting attacks" against IDF soldiers in the area surrounding the village of Jabba as well as near the area of the Israeli community of Homesh. Two of the terrorists who were killed were Ahmed Peshapsha and Safian Fakhuri, military operatives on behalf of the Islamic Jihad who were residents of Jabba and who were targeted for arrest by the Shin Bet. The other armed terrorist neutralized while attacking Israeli forces was Naif Malaisha, who was just released from prison last month for another crime that involved guns. Upon inspection of the vehicle they were traveling in, several weapons and explosives were found.

Palestinian sources who saw the encounter said: "Israeli special units ambushed activists from the Jenin Battalion who were traveling in a Hyundai Accent type vehicle. The forces blew up the vehicle and killed the three activists."

The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, responded to the activity this morning and said: "I congratulate the soldiers of the Border Patrol and all the brave security forces, for eliminating the terrorists who shot at them with the aim of murdering them. Any terrorist who would try to harm Israelis should know that their death is on them."

It should be noted that less than 48 hours ago Israeli security forces carried out another activity in Jenin with large forces of the IDF entering the refugee camp and closing in on a house where a number of terrorists were entrenched. The forces announced to them to leave and then an exchange of fire began. The soldiers fired Matador missiles at the house, and apparently, 4 terrorists were killed inside. One of the terrorists who was eliminated is the murderer who carried out the attack in Hawara in which the Yaniv brothers were shot dead at point-blank range.
