A particularly frightening evening awaited the residents of Tel Aviv Saturday night who have different types of “smart home" systems installed in their apartments. According to social media accounts and a report by Israel's Channel 13 News, repeated severe disturbances such as videos of terrorist attacks being broadcasted on their televisions. The cyber attack was carried out by an unknown individual or organization, and so far, the Israeli Police have not publicly made a statement on the matter.

The cyber attack comes almost two weeks after another virtual attack against higher education institutions in Israel. The attacking group called "Anonymous Sudan", announced that it had begun an attack on the websites of the various Israeli banks and the government-run National Post Office. The post office site and some of the bank sites went crashed shortly after. Later, the websites of other banks were attacked, and they also crashed.

The hackers also targeted the websites of the National Electric company. "We have two more hours before the evening prayer, during which we will attack everything in Israel," the hackers wrote on their Telegram channel. The hackers also managed to hack the websites of the cellular companies Cellcom, Pelephone, and Hot.

The Channel 13 News report includes testimony from one of the victims of the latest Cyber attack in Tel Aviv from an owner of a “Smart Home” apartment: "All the blinds in the house went up and down non-stop, and the electricity also turned on and off non-stop for about an hour." A few dozen residents of Tel Aviv reported similar incidents in their homes. Although not life-threatening and not yet confirmed by any Israeli officials, the recent attack on the few dozen individual residents of Tel Aviv could mark a new alternative style of terrorism on behalf of the Palestinian cause.

The recent cyber attack on Israel coming from all sorts of Iranian-funded organizations comes after the Friday afternoon demonstrations in support of the Palestinian cause took place in Iran itself on the occasion of their annually marked "Jerusalem Day" on the last Friday of the month of Ramadan. In one of the ceremonies, a man wearing a mask in the image of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was depicted in a ceremony in Tehran meant to mock and threaten the Israeli Prime Minister. The march in Tehran was attended by the President of Iran Ibrahim Raisi and the Commander of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards Esmail Qaani. Hezbollah also tends to mark the Iranian Jerusalem Day with a ceremony that takes place in Sidon, Lebanon.
