The leader of Iraq’s Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia, Qais al-Khazali

Qais Al-Khazali, a senior member of a pro-Iranian Shiite militia in Iraq, claims that the Israeli establishment is behind the murder of Imam Ali, who is considered to be Muhammad’s successor according to Shiite Muslims.

The assassination Al-Khazali was blaming the Israeli Mossad for took place in 661 AD,  more than 1360 years ago;  but the facts fail to deter Qais al-Khazali from making his outlandish claims, declaring that the Israeli intelligence service is behind the act of murdering the imam.

According to the Shia militant: "At that time, the Mossad was spying on various objects using supernatural methods. And if you fail to understand my arguments, it means that your intellectual level does not allow it. "The Jews! The Jews! The Jews! They assassinated Hussein, the son of Ali, and they did this by using a woman. The Umayyads were mere collaborators with the Jews. Then they assassinated Imam Hussein. It was the same perpetrators, only they used different people,” said Al-Khazali.

"Qatam was a prostitute. What had been the modus operandi of the Israeli-Jewish intelligence agency? What do we know about them? How do they get their sources? It is either through money or through women. Right? In this case, it was a woman. There is no doubt that she worked for the Israeli Mossad back then, and through her, they also recruited Imam Ali's killer, Abd Al-Rahman Ibn Mujlam." It should be noted that as ridiculous as Al-Khazali’s statements may be, he was being very serious and speaking in front of a crowd that also seemed to take his statements as no laughing matter.

Ali was a cousin and son-in-law of Muhammad who was raised by him from the age of 5, and was one of the first to accept his divinity along with the Islamic religion. Muhammad called him his brother and guardian, and he was given the honorable position of flag bearer in most of the wars they fought. On his return from the famous Farewell Pilgrimage, Muhammad was recorded saying the phrase, "Whoever I am his Mawla, this Ali is his Mawla." The meaning of “Mawla” in Arabic is subject to debate. While Shias believe that Ali was appointed by Muhammad to lead Islam, Sunnis interpreted the word as simply a word of affection, friendship, and love; thus causing the major two factions in Islam to be at odds.

Ali was assassinated during morning prayer on 28 January 661 CE, equivalent to 19 Ramadan 40 AH. He was struck when Abd Al-Rahman Ibn Mujlam struck him over his head with a poison-coated sword at the Great Mosque of Kufa in Iraq.
