The largest air defense exhibition in the world opened yesterday at the annual Paris Air Show Exhibition and Israel seems to be at the center of it. As part of it, new technological solutions in the field of aviation and space are presented, spread over 2,500 defense industries, accompanied by leaders, heads of defense systems, and politicians from all over the world.

During the exhibition, the Israeli delegation led by the Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant is holding dozens of meetings with international delegations, Ministers of Defense, and Chief Executives of Defense Departments from all over the world, with the aim of continuing to strengthen defense ties and Israel's defense exports, which reached an all-time high this past year with 12.5 billion dollars in gross revenue, a jump of over 50% within just three years.

Defense Minister Gallant said that in recent years Israel has become a powerhouse in the fields of aeronautics and security thanks to innovative developments that have made it one of the world's leading countries in the field. The minister said that these industries demonstrate not only innovative developments but also innovation in the fields of sustainability.

The main exhibit during the opening of the air show was the autonomous planes, a product that traditional industries are investing huge sums in. Thus, the giant companies Boeing and Airbus presented their new planes in light of the expected future shortage of planes in the world experts have been predicting. In addition, the exhibition is being held without a Russian representative due to the war in Ukraine, but this fact points the spotlight toward the examination of aerial military technologies that will be of significant weight in future and even ongoing warfare.

As part of the exhibition, Israeli companies have been presenting their solutions for the air and land arenas, with an emphasis on the use of capabilities developed in Israel. For the first time, an innovative solution for detecting threats from the air, known as Nano-SPEAR, developed by the Israeli company Elbit, will be unveiled at the exhibition. The system actually belongs to the field of electronic warfare, it is launched from the plane using the gun apparatus, and its function is to act as a countermeasure against air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles directed against the plane.

In the background of the conference in Paris, it was announced earlier this week that Elbit was chosen to supply three sets of tactical drones to the Romanian Ministry of Defense, a deal valued at approximately $180 million. The continued prosperity of the Israeli defense industries among the countries of Europe and other countries of the world is fertile ground for deepening the focus in the development of advanced technologies and also enables at the strategic level interstate cooperation with state axes that are important to Israel in its security and international struggle.
