The former head of the Israel Defense Forces Intelligence Corps, Major General Amos Yadlin, who serves as chairman of the Ben-Gurion Institute's board, referred to the operation in Jenin in an interview with the news editor of Israeli news outlet โ€œMakor Rishonโ€ Yishai Hollander, and spoke about the greatest threat to Israel, according to him, which is the Iranian backed Hezbollah organization in Lebanon.

"In Jenin, the asymmetry is the opposite," Yadlin said regarding the IDF's "Bayit Ve'Gan" (Home & Garden) operation. "We are the strongest. The weak are someone else. In the war against terrorism, there is no absolute victory." Yadlin added that when the situation is not symmetrical then "to speak in terms of an unequivocal decision,  it will not happen. Whoever thinks this will happen is wrong."

However, the former head of Intelligence units in the Israeli Defense Forces added that the principles of Israelโ€™s founder Ben-Gurion and his concept of security are still true today, but their application is completely different. "To defeat terrorism is to lower it to a level where it does not affect the strategic parameters of the State of Israel," and that " with each round, we are (further) developing the State of Israel.โ€

"The greatest security is peace. This is the most correct concept of security. The goal is peace," said the Chairman of the Board of the Ben-Gurion Heritage Institute, noting that today there is no legitimacy in the world for a preventive war and that throughout almost the entire history of the State of Israel going to war had internal legitimacy.

"The most significant threat to the State of Israel today is conscience," said the General. "Hezbollah today is not only a terrorist organization, it has the characteristics of a regular army. In the next war, the crossing of the borderline between Lebanon and Israel, will not be us to the north but them to the south. There is a threat there that may in the future be symmetrical."

The generalโ€™s remarks came after it was reported that Hezbollah men dismantled one of the two tents set up on Israeli territory on Mount Dov, near the Lebanese border, over the weekend. Security officials in Israel confirmed this on Saturday evening. However, the number of people staying in the encampment did not change, between six and eight armed men and everyone has now huddled inside the tent that remained in place.

Hezbollah moved the other tent to the Lebanese side, north of the UN โ€˜blue lineโ€™. At first, the Hezbollah men took down only one part of the tent, and at noon on Saturday, they cleared the infrastructure after also moving its concrete base and completing its removal. The dismantling was carried out in stages, therefore the IDF could not for sure sign the "clearance of the area" and is waiting to see what happens with the second tent.
