The IDF has been taking advantage of the unstable situation in Syria to target Iranian and other terrorist-linked targets within the war-torn country.

The Israeli air force enters Syrian skies every so often and is almost always granted permission from the Russian military to control many aspects of Assad’s regime. Israeli forces often claim responsibility for attacks mentioned in local reports; other times, readers of these reports must put the puzzle together.

The Syrian Center for Human Rights reported that a senior member of the Ba'ath organization, close to the Shiite terrorist organization Hezbollah, was killed overnight by assassins, in the Damascus Rif District, in southwestern Syria. While Israel rarely comments on their clandestine operations, they are often credited with these events.

According to the report, local officials could not identify the armed men who fired several bullets and killed the senior commander in the Damascus Province village of Al-Tawani, a known safe haven for Iranian militia members. Typically, those who come and go from areas in and around the heavily guarded Damascus region are known to the authorities. While it is not unusual to have outsiders come and go, the fact this was a hit has led them to believe it was an Israeli-run operation.

The Syrian Center for Monitoring Human Rights reported over the weekend that "last Thursday, Israel attacked ammunition depots in the city of Masyaf, including medium-range surface-to-surface missiles, which were produced at the Scientific Research Center under the supervision of officers and experts in Iran's Revolutionary Guards." It was also reported that about a thousand missiles had been stored there for more than a year.

The Syrian news agency SANA reported last Thursday that the Syrian air defense is confronting hostile targets in the skies over the city of Masyaf in the western part of the country. According to other reports, there were also attacks in the Tartus port area, and loud explosions were heard in the port area.

The reports of the attack should be seen as a prelude to the reports earlier this week in Arab media about the assassination of a senior member of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Sardar Akbar Jalomourkh, during an attack by the American army in the city of Mayadin in the Deir Ez-Zor district, in northeastern Syria.

These daily reports from within are very informative and help draw a painting of the situation in Syria and how it is being abused by Iranian forces to threaten Israel and all western nations. However, the full story and timeline of all military actions in Syria remain a secret that only a few physically involved in executing the missions understand.
