The Defense Minister of the Czech Republic, Jana Černochová, on Saturday night called on her country to leave the United Nations, after the council called for a ceasefire last weekend between Hamas and Israel while refraining from condemning Hamas for its deadly massacre. In her words, she claimed that the UN Council supports terrorism and does not respect Israel's right to defend itself.

"Three weeks ago, Hamas murdered more than 1,400 Israelis - which is more victims in relation to the size of the population than the Islamist organization Al-Qaeda murdered in the September 11 attacks in the United States in 2001," said Černochová. "Only 14 countries stood up against the unprecedented terrorist attack by Hamas terrorists in a clear and understandable way."

"I am ashamed of the United Nations," the Czech minister added. "In my opinion, the Czech Republic has nothing to do with an organization that supports terrorists and does not respect the basic right of every country to defend itself. I call to leave, let's get out."

As mentioned, at the end of the week, the UN's Halil assembly called for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, and demanded that humanitarian aid be allowed to enter the Gaza Strip. 120 countries voted in favor of the decision, 45 abstained, and 14 voted against - including Israel, the USA, the Czech Republic, Austria, Croatia, and Hungary, along with a number of African and Asian countries.

In Israel, they reacted with rage to the decision that avoided condemnation by Hamas when Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, made it clear that "Israel will not stop the fighting until the destruction of Hamas' infrastructure and the return of the abductees. This day will go down in history for the rest of the world as a day when the United Nations, which was established after the Holocaust, completely lost its legitimacy and relevance. Today it was made clear that most of the world's countries do not want to prevent atrocities and massacres, but instead encourage atrocities and murder and help a terrorist organization to survive."

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen also said in response to the decision that "Israel rejects outright the despicable UN call for a ceasefire. Israel intends to act to eliminate Hamas just as the world acted against the Nazis and ISIS."
