The death of the Palestinian girl Monday night during clashes between armed militants and Israel Defense Forces in the Jenin area has led to calls in United Nations circles for Israel to be blacklisted, along with terrorist organizations ISIS and Boko Haram.

The shots that killed Jana Zakharna came as the biased 'UN Mission for Children in War Zones' was visiting Israel. Virginia Gamba, the head of the mission along with her office said that the visit to Israel is taking place as part of an effort to mediate between the two parties. The mission being in Israel is directly connected to the warning UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent to Israel, after the last annual report of armed conflict child victims.

In a report published by Secretary-General Guterres a few months back, it was determined based on data provided by the Palestinians that Israeli security forces killed 78 Palestinian children and injured 982 in 2021, data that also included children who were allegedly injured in Gaza during the IDF operation that year.

Nevertheless, what seems to be completely disregarded in this report was how many Palestinian minors take part in horrendous acts of terrorism themselves and are usually killed while doing so. In fact, most knife and gun attacks on Israeli civilians are conducted by Palestinians under 30. Last month, a 14-year-old boy was killed when the IED he was setting up exploded prematurely. Israel was blamed for his death as well.

Early Tuesday morning, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Ibrahim Shtayyeh joined the calls with Guterres to blacklist Israel. Guterres himself stated that if the situation does not improve in Israel during 2022, it may find itself on a certain list, which includes terrorist organizations such as ISIS and Boko Haram.

As part of the Israeli effort to stop this move, Prime Minister Yair Lapid expressed sorrow over the death of the girl during the operation to arrest terrorists residing in Jenin and sent his condolences to her family. Additionally, the Israeli Border patrol's offices responded to the IDF's publishing of the report, arguing that it was inaccurate and wrong to publish a report with such little concrete data.

Prime Minister Lapid emphasized that the published investigation is only preliminary and that the security forces continue to investigate to clarify the circumstances of the incident. Lapid lastly noted that the State of Israel will continue to act to thwart terrorism and capture terrorists wherever necessary, while he trusts the soldiers of the IDF and the security forces in their activities, including The most complex, they do and will continue to do their utmost to prevent harm to those not involved.
