US Envoy to Palestine Hady Amr blamed all the violence on Israelis

The Palestinian Authority is working hard to not help the residents clean up and rebuild, but rather preserve the damage in Huwara. Their reason is simple, to perpetuate the ‘victim’ label they have mastered over the decades. They want to enshrine the "crimes of the settlers" while completely ignoring the murder of Hillel and Yagel Yaniv, which was the spark that set some extremist Israelis off.

The Palestinian leadership hosted the American government yesterday at the Ramallah offices of the secretary of the PLO Executive Committee, Hussein Al-Sheikh. From the American side, Hady Amr, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Israel-Palestinian Affairs was in attendance along with delegations from both sides.

Al-Sheikh discussed several regional and international issues with the American envoy. In the Palestinian media, it was reported that Al-Sheikh concentrated on the “brutal attacks against the Palestinian people including the killing and burning of houses by the occupation and the settlers, the last of which was in Nablus, Huwara." He called on the United States and the international community to "protect the Palestinian people from these atrocities and crimes."

What Al-Sheikh did not mention was the 14 dead Israeli citizens in the last few months, many children, at the hands of Palestinian militants, and specifically, the brothers whose car was rammed by a Palestinian who then proceeded to shoot them at point-blank range. This was not surprising since the Palestinians view the attacks on civilians as a legitimate ‘resistance’ to what they try to portray as Israeli Apartheid. What did surprise was the silence on the issue of the American representative who conveyed his and America’s sympathies with the Palestinians of Huwara, but not the parents of the Yaniv brothers or the loved ones of the other 12 who had been killed at the hands of Palestinians.

The American representative Hady Amr visited the Temple Mount and later toured the town of Huwara to closely observe the damage and talk to the residents. He walked with the representatives of the authority among burnt cars that have not been touched specifically to ‘show off’ to foreign dignitaries and said after the visit that the rioters should be prosecuted. Notably missing from his statement was a condemnation of the murder that spawned the shameful riot, or the call to prosecute the terrorists who carried out the attack on the Israelis simply because they were Israeli.

Amr also neglected to call out the Palestinian Authority for incentivizing the attacks using money that America supplies the P.A. Under the Taylor Force Act, named for an American servicemember who was killed in a terror attack in Israel, the Palestinian Authority should not be paying terrorists or their families and if they do, the United States must cease payments to the Palestinians until it is proven that the pay-to-slay payments have stopped.

The American representative also forgot to mention that the recruitment of children into militias is a violation of international law, and one of the most serious crimes against humanity according to the United Nations. Many of the attacks against Israeli civilians and forces have been carried out by children who are members of terror groups. Several of them have been killed in skirmishes with Israeli forces and the groups they are associated with have printed and published posters and statements hailing them and claiming responsibility for the attacks.

The American Ambassador to Israel also dropped the ball when he blamed Israeli attacks on Palestinians as the core cause of pain in the region. While he has condemned Palestinian terror, the events in Huwara surprised everyone, and showed how much, Israeli citizens raised over one million shekels for Huwara residents in less than a day. In a speech at Tel Aviv University, Ambassador Dan Nides said: “I do not think any Israeli would be proud to see settlers burning cars and smashing windows, that doesn’t make any of us proud or happy under any circumstance.”

The events of Tuesday in Ramallah and Huwara with the American envoy to Palestine only demonstrate the double standard with which Israeli is judged.
