Yair Netanyahu, the son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, shared on his Twitter account a video in which United States Republican Senator Tom Cotton accuses the US State Department under the Biden Administration of trying to overthrow the Israeli government.

In the video, Cotton claimed that the US State Department transferred funds to the "Movement for the Quality of Government", an Israeli organization that has been funding much of the protests against the recent Netanyahu-led coalitions. Late Saturday night, Yair Netanyahu shared a tweet that quoted an American influencer who claimed that "the American State Department is trying to overthrow the Netanyahu government, probably on behalf of Iran."

The prime minister's son also repeated his accusations, not fully proven yet, on his program yesterday on the Galey Israel radio channel: "Do you understand how rotten everything is from the root there? We saw that everything is from the US, it may be that the similarity is not coincidental, beyond what you revealed about the involvement of the State Department. There may be something more broad and cynical, that maybe Netanyahu is like a bone in the throat of the entire democrat party regime in the US regarding Iran and the Palestinians, and there are mixed interests here because they want someone who is more comfortable with Iran?"

Netanyahu Jr.'s comments come amid what appears to be an ongoing crisis in diplomatic relations between the United States and Israel. The prime minister returned from his position as the leader of the opposition to the prime minister's chair nearly three months ago and despite the American practice of inviting prime ministers from the moment they are elected to an official visit to the US, Netanyahu has yet to be invited to such a visit by President Biden, who claims to be a close ally of Israel and a friend to Netanyahu.

The US administration has taken a sharp left turn politically, embaracing policies and repeating false allegations of progressive lawmakers like Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes and others who blindly support Palestinian nationalism, and excuse terror attacks as legitimate resistance.

The Knesset plenum's approval of the law to cancel the 2005 disengagement from Northern Samaria at the beginning of last week also exacerbated the tensions. The US State Department summoned Israel's ambassador to the US, Mike Herzog, for a "clarification call". During the conversation, Biden officials "expressed concern about the legislation approved by the Knesset". According to the ministry's announcement, the two discussed the importance of "all parties avoiding actions or statements that could further inflame tensions ahead of Ramadan and the Passover and Easter holidays."
