Israel is said to be considering allowing Iran to send oil to Syria

Ahead of the resumption of talks regarding the nuclear deal between the U.S. and Iran, it was revealed that Israel may be on the verge of a very unusual agreement involving Iran and the US. According to the local news reporting, Israel is considering allowing oil to pass from Iran into Syria.

In advance of the talks, President Joe Biden caved to Iranian demands to delist the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) from the no-fly and terror watchlist. As a result, it appears that the two nations will resume talks and part of that, includes an unlikely concession from Israel.

Three tankers are now making their way from Iran to Syria, ships that Iran previously carried weapons to Syria and Hezbollah. However now, as part of the renewal of the nuclear deal, the U.S. is considering a series of favors for Iran to put gain leverage on the negotiating table.

One of the facilitations is, as mentioned, to allow the path of oil transfer and Israel is actively and sharply crucial for such an operation. Israel potentially will agree to the transports on the condition that there is American supervision, Iranian transparency, and verification that only oil and not weapons are being delivered.

In the past, Israel recognized the mentioned route as one for warfare shipments, so the message and warning conveyed to both the Americans and the Iranians is the need for supervision and proof that only oil passes through there - otherwise Israel will 'stand in the way' of deliveries.

The information was part of an investigative report by The Wall Street Journal, which revealed that a secret meeting was held between Arab army commanders and Chief of Staff Kochavi in the Southern Sinai port city of Sharm-El-Sheikh. Among other things, they discussed a meeting on regional security arrangements with Iran ahead of President Biden's visit to Israel and Saudi Arabia next month.

The US president is expected to visit Saudi Arabia to shake hands with Muhammad bin Salman, who Biden has criticized heavily in the past, heir to the throne and the most powerful man in Saudi Arabia and perhaps, the entire Arab world.

According to American sources, this is not a "Middle Eastern NATO" or an Israeli-Arab military alliance, etc., but arrangements and understandings that will be made under the leadership of the American Central Command (CentCom), which is attached to the Middle East and where Israel Defense Forces have a liaison office.
