Despite the ongoing war in Ukraine, this year thousands of Hasidim from around the world flocked to the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslav. They spend the high holidays in mass gatherings and prayers at the "Holy Zion" or "kibbutz" in Uman - the nickname for the annual gathering of Breslav Hasidim at the tomb of Rabbi Nachman.
The United States is expected to present the outline of the maritime border line agreement between Lebanon and Israel. The agreement is viewed as an American proposal, which the Israeli and Lebanese governments will have to approve or reject.
Following the upcoming agreement that is expected to be signed between the countries, Israel is preparing for Hezbollah’s response, which will likely include some sort of act of aggression or possibly a large-scale attack.
Just before Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year that began Sunday evening, Prime Minister Yair Lapid held a meeting with the entire security cabinet in which all the possible scenarios for escalation were presented, as well as all the operational plans that Israel is planning for the possible events.
The Israeli government clarified late Tuesday, after Rosh Hashanah, that it does not intend to recognize the results of the referendums held by Russia in the occupied regions of Ukraine with the goal of officially annexing them.
"Israel recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and will not recognize the results of the referendums in the eastern regions," reads a statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ukraine's ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, celebrated the announcement.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently conducted a public opinion survey among American students for the first time in light of the rise of Boycott Divestment & Sanctions (BDS) activities on American campuses. Based on the poll it was revealed that 49% of American students have been exposed to calls for a boycott of Israel and most asked about it support BDS in one form or another.
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, spoke at the UN General Assembly and claimed that "the security of the Middle East requires the acceleration of a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Middle East region is in dire need of joint efforts in order to establish security and stability and provide a better future that meets the aspirations of nations for development and prosperity."
