Major-General Katy Perry is head of the Israel Prison Service

Israel has recently been dealing with an unprecedented criminal probe involving the alleged 'pimping' of conscripted female prison guards to some of the worst terrorists rotting away in an Israeli prison, resulting in incarcerated terrorists raping these young women over and again as the prison warden turns a blind eye.

Hagit Peโ€™er, president of the Negev based Na'amat organization, an NGO that works to protect women and children from abuse, sent a letter to Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Minister of Internal Security Omar Bar-Lev, demanding the establishment of an independent commission of inquiry to investigate the case of the assault on female prison guards.

"The immediate establishment of a state and/or government commission of inquiry must be ordered to investigate the case of the prison guards thoroughly and these most serious allegations, according to which female prison guards were sexually harmed, including rape, by prisoners, with the knowledge and cooperation of their superiors at the Security Service and An attempt to cover-up the events.โ€

"These are such serious accusations that keep coming up. There is a serious fear of an alleged cover-up by the Israeli Security Service and perhaps even with the backing of other elements in the law enforcement system. Therefore, there is an obligation to investigate them in depth by a completely independent entity," Peโ€™er wrote.

She further added: "We call on the government, especially these days when public trust in law enforcement systems is so fragile, to take the investigation out of the hands of parties who may have an interest and to immediately order the establishment of an independent commission of inquiry that will investigate the events in depth, thoroughly and thoroughly without bias.

Following the custody case, the intelligence subcommittee in the Knesset is to meet with representatives of the Israeli security services. The relevant government ministries will discuss the case. Immediately after that, the internal security and foreign affairs and security committees will meet for an open and joint discussion on the same subject with Knesset members and other invitees.

The chairman of the Internal Security Committee, MK Merav Ben Ari (Yesh Atid), said before the debate: "I have been following the issue for a long time and even asked the State Attorney to open a new investigation, and he agreed to, but unfortunately the investigation is not proceeding at the required pace on an issue that is so important to the public ".

"The recent disclosure of the rape case shook me. That's why I turned to my fellow MK Ram Ben Barak; he answered straight away and asked us to hold a joint discussion on the matter in light of the connection between the different IDF offices. I hope that through the discussion, we will be able to understand the issue, demand explanations deeply, and even take legislative steps on the issue," she added.
