The Funeral of Staff Sergeant Shilo Yosef Amir (Source: @ChaimSmierc)

After the deadly terrorist attack near the Samarian settlement of Kedumin, in which IDF Sergeant Shiloh Yosef Amir was killed, hundreds of friends and family members participated Friday morning in his funeral at the military section of Mount Herzl.

The commander of the Givati patrol, in which Amir served, said: "Shiloh, we stand here today shocked and pained. You enlisted in March of 2021 and went through challenging training to become a soldier in the patrol. Throughout your service, you participated in complex operations, always the first to volunteer. You were a man of truth, you said everything that was on your mind. You accomplished all your missions to the very end. Yesterday, instead of going home, you chose to join your friends on a patrol to protect the citizens of Israel. You strived for contact with the enemy and thus prevented harm to civilians."

The Rabbi of Shiloh’s Kibbutz, Merav, Eitan Zucker, also delivered a eulogy: " We have been neighbors for many years, since the day you were born and we were always good to each other. Always a smile on your lips, always a kind word. A true friend of your friends, a good heart. The entire kibbutz would come to life when you came back from the army. You always saw right from wrong. Everyone knew you could be asked for help." Merav, where Shiloh grew up was in the news several weeks ago for sending a letter to the residents of Jenin asking them to please stop firing into their community. Militants would blindly fire up the mountain hitting homes and vehicles in the peaceful Israeli agricultural community.

A childhood friend of Shiloh said: "Shiloh my brother the hero. Until last night there were five reasons for the 17th of Tammuz fast and today we have six. It is clear to me why it is like that because you and the temple are the same things, truth, and purity with zero fakes. You wanted to fight and indeed did and never gave up. You always demanded to understand the truth and what the Torah wants from us. God is proud of you, you gave your life for the Land of Israel. We need to learn the truth from you, you were the most truthful in front of friends, family, and the Creator of the world. Your respect for your parents is second to none. You fell in the war for the Land of Israel."

The investigation of the attack that took place at noon on Wednesday near Kedumim revealed that the terrorist who murdered an Israeli arrived alone, tried to enter the settlement, and found that its gates were closed. The terrorist is Ahmed Yassin Gidan, 19 years old from the Arab village of Kibiya in Judea. The Shin Bet said that he had no previous security background. Gidan is the cousin of the terrorist who attacked on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv back in March. The terrorist's uncle, Suleiman Gidan, carried out a suicide attack in the Beit El area in 1993.

The military wing of Hamas, the Izz Ad-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, officially claimed responsibility for the attack. In the message claiming responsibility for the attack, it was written "We came to tell the Zionist Minister [Bezalel] Smotrich, that Al-Qassam almost knocked on the door of your house."
