Ariel, Mother Shiri and baby Kfir Bibas

The youngest captive held by Hamas' military faction, the Al Qassam Brigades, in Gaza has reportedly died, according to recent statements. The group alleges that an Israeli airstrike resulted in the deaths of three hostages, including this young captive, in the Gaza Strip. However, these claims remain unconfirmed.

Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) expressed their belief that Kfir and his four-year-old brother Ariel were taken to Khan Younis, presumably by a different Palestinian militant faction, potentially the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

The tragic ordeal of the Bibas family began during the October 7 incident at Kibbutz Nir Oz. Ten-month-old Kfir Bibas was abducted along with his father Yarden, 34, mother Shiri, 32, and brother Ariel, 4. At the time of his capture, Kfir was only nine months old.

The urgency of the situation was underscored by Ofri Bibas-Levy, Kfir's aunt, in a recent plea for the family's release. She highlighted the critical nature of the ongoing ceasefire and the specific vulnerability of the youngest hostage, Kfir, who primarily relies on formula.

Ofri appealed to the Israeli government and international mediators, including Qatar and Egypt, to ensure the family's inclusion in any negotiated deal and expedite their release.

American publisher Pamela Geller wrote upon hearing the news: "More psychological torture. We don’t even know how many hostages they have. People who were listed as dead, were actually taken hostage. This confusion is deliberate. They will always hold some back for some future ‘negotiation.” Any time Israel resumes defensive war. Look what Israel gave up for one hostage – Gilad Shalit. Israel sabotages itself most horribly by negotiating with these monsters"

The IDF has acknowledged these reports and is currently investigating the situation. In their statement they said:

"The terrorist organization Hamas continues to act in a cruel and inhuman manner. IDF representatives spoke with the members of the Bibas family, informed them of the publication and are accompanying them at this time. The IDF is checking the authenticity of the information.

The responsibility for the safety of all the abductees and abductees in the Gaza Strip lies fully with the terrorist organization Hamas

Hamas endangers the abductees, including nine children. Hamas is required to immediately return them to Israel. The IDF together with all the other entities will continue to accompany the Bibas family, as well as all the families of the hostages and the hostages. The IDF works with all means, intelligence and operational, in order to return the hostages home"
