Ambulance at the scene where an elderly woman was attacked in Holon

An 84-year-old woman was found lifeless on Hashmonaim Street in Holon after being attacked by a passerby. The footage found from a nearby security camera shows a man hitting the elderly woman and fleeing the scene. The prime suspect was an Arab man from the West Bank with a legal permit to be in Israel named Musa Sarsour.

Sarsour, a 28-year-old resident of Kalkilia who allegedly murdered 84-year-old Shulamit Rachel Ovadia in Holon for nationalist reasons, was found this morning lifeless on Bar Kochba Street near Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv. According to the police assessment, the murderer committed suicide by hanging himself.

The deceased elderly lady left behind a husband and three children. The police called on the public to maintain routine and report any unusual incidents to their hotline. At the same time of the ongoing police investigation, IDF soldiers arrested five family members of the terrorist in the Palestinian village of Sarta in Samaria to investigate if they were involved in the attack or knew of Musa's intentions to commit an attack.

The woman was next to a building under construction, a short distance from her home. In the footage obtained by the police, a man is seen coming towards the woman from behind while holding something, hitting her - and running away. Also in the footage, which appears somewhat blurry, the suspect is seen wearing dark clothing.

The woman's bag was located nearby, but it is believed that nothing was stolen from it. The police officers began to go between the buildings to collect documentation from the security cameras along the street, aiming to reach the suspect. Workers from the nearby construction site were taken for questioning, in which Shin Bet investigators are also involved.

Sarsour, who worked at a construction site near the elderly woman's place of residence, held an entry permit to Israel and passed through the Eyal Kadin crossing yesterday.

Following this, the security forces launched an extensive hunt for the terrorist. Chief Commissioner Kobi Shabtai said last night at the scene, before the suspect was revealed, that "it is currently evident from an investigative point of view that this is most likely a terrorist attack. This is the direction we are going in. This is a suspect whose identity is known to us and we are currently scanning the nearby and distant circles in order to try to locate the suspect."
