Video uploaded to TikTok showing car shooting at a Bus (10/2/2022)

A taxi driver was slightly injured by shrapnel following a shooting at his vehicle and at a bus, on the road between the settlement of Itamar and Hetmar Shomron, near Nablus. The terrorist group that goes by the name β€œLion’s Den”, which recently made a reputation for itself in Nablus, took responsibility for the attack.

As a result of the shooting, the Hawara checkpoint in Nablus was closed, as well as the Kfar Beit Furik checkpoint, where IDF soldiers entered by foot to search for the shooters. IDF soldiers also entered Kfar Salem, from where the shooting apparently took place. Shots were fired at the soldiers who entered the village, and in Hawara Palestinians threw stones at Israeli vehicles.

An IDF spokesperson said in a statement that: "A shooting attack was carried out this morning against a vehicle and a bus near Nablus. The driver of the car was slightly injured and was taken to the Shomron regional division headquarters. The windshield of the bus was damaged. The IDF forces are in the midst of scanning the area."

The "Lion's Den" terror squad, which claimed responsibility for the shooting attack, said: "We located a bus of settlers near the Alon Mora checkpoint and then shot at it. Our operatives retreated safely."

The publication of a response by the terrorists so close to the time of the attack is a relatively unusual thing, and it goes along with the documentation of terrorist activities on various social networks, especially on TikTok. The perpetrators are trying to create a newly founded animosity toward Israel with young Palestinians.

Hazem Kassem, a spokesman for Hamas, said that the organization "Hamas welcomes the act of resistance against the settlers in Nablus. We are facing a major revolution and an escalation. We will further achieve our people's goals through the expulsion of the occupation and its settlers from our country. The Nablus operation coincided with the settlers' invasion of Al-Aqsa so this was an act of resistance. This is a natural response to the crimes of the occupation against Al-Aqsa Mosque." The communique was speaking of the increased Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount compound that normally occurs around the Jewish High-Holy Days.

The head of the Samaria Council, Yossi Dagan, attacked the Israeli government in response to the attack and said: "Another serious incident that ended almost in a miracle. This government is abandoning its residents to a wave of terrorism that the Palestinian Authority is fueling. This could end in disaster. I call on the government to come to its senses and announce the launch of a broad operation to damage the terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria And stop abandoning the residents to the ongoing wave of terrorism."
