The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday morning released the names of four brave soldiers tragically killed during a Hezbollah drone attack on a Golani Brigade training base near Binyamina on Sunday evening. The fallen soldiers, all only 19 years old, were engaged in their infantry training when their lives were cut short by an unprovoked and brazen assault from Lebanon.
The victims of this heartbreaking attack were:
- Sergeant Omri Tamari, hailing from the close-knit community of Mazkeret Batya.
- Sergeant Yosef Hieb, a resident of the Bedouin village Tuba-Zanghariya, who proudly served despite Lebanon’s cowardly assault.
- Sergeant Yoav Agmon, from Binyamina Giv’at Ada, a town now grieving one of its own.
- Sergeant Alon Amitay, of Ramot Naftali, whose family and community are shattered by the loss.

These four young men represent the courage and sacrifice of Israel's youth, the beating heart of the IDF’s defensive strength, who stood as a shield between Israel and those who seek its destruction.
A Brazen Attack on Israeli Soil
The Hezbollah attack, described as both vicious and calculated, targeted the Golani Brigade training base, exploiting a temporary lapse in Israel’s air defenses. According to military sources, two drones were launched from Lebanon—one of which was shot down over the Mediterranean Sea. Tragically, the second drone evaded detection, striking the base and causing devastating casualties.

The assault left 67 people wounded, with varying degrees of injury. Alongside the four soldiers who paid the ultimate price, seven others were critically wounded, five were seriously injured, and 14 were moderately hurt. The remaining victims suffered less severe injuries, but all were profoundly shaken by the shocking strike.
In Gaza, on the same day, two other soldiers were severely wounded in combat, one from the 8101st Battalion of the 3rd Brigade and another from the 46th Battalion of the 401st Brigade, underlining the scale and intensity of Israel’s ongoing fight on multiple fronts.
May their memories be blessed!

Hezbollah’s Tactical Shift: A Growing Threat
This latest strike serves as a chilling reminder of the evolving threat posed by Hezbollah, whose growing arsenal of drones and other advanced technologies now poses a significant risk to Israeli civilian and military targets alike. The use of drones in this incident marks a tactical shift for Hezbollah, utilizing UAVs to bypass traditional defenses. In an even more alarming development, sirens failed to activate, and the military later revealed that the drone went undetected by Israel’s air defenses—a vulnerability currently under investigation by the IDF.
This grave incident was one of several that Hezbollah has launched from Lebanon recently, further highlighting the Iranian-backed terror group’s relentless efforts to undermine Israel’s security and stability. With this attack, the conflict has taken a dangerous new turn, extending beyond the battlefields of Gaza and into Israel's northern front, testing the resilience of its home front.

A Nation Mourns
The morning after the attack, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Herzi Halevi visited the scene to honor the fallen soldiers and assess the damage. Halevi’s words echoed the profound grief felt across the nation. "We are at war, and an attack on a training base on the home front is difficult, and the results are painful," he said. Despite the heavy toll, Halevi praised the swift actions of the soldiers and commanders who worked tirelessly to treat and evacuate the wounded.
Halevi offered words of comfort and encouragement to the families of the fallen and the injured, pledging that the military would continue to prepare for the tough battles that lie ahead. He also paid tribute to the Golani Brigade’s legacy, which, despite the tragic loss, remains a symbol of courage and steadfastness in the face of adversity. "The Golani Brigade has recorded many achievements in this war and faced challenging situations with resolve. We must continue on the path of this legacy,” he said.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who also visited the base, addressed the need for enhanced protection against UAV threats. "We are engaged in developing solutions that will help deal with the threat of UAVs," Gallant assured military personnel, signaling that steps are already being taken to close the gaps in Israel’s air defenses.
Israel’s Unbreakable Spirit
The tragedy of the Golani Brigade attack is a bitter reminder of the harsh realities Israel faces on a daily basis. Yet, despite the tremendous loss, Israel’s spirit remains unbroken. The sacrifice of Sergeant Omri Tamari, Sergeant Yosef Hieb, Sergeant Yoav Agmon, and Sergeant Alon Amitay will not be forgotten. They represent the very best of Israel—a nation determined to protect its people, its borders, and its future, no matter the cost.
As the IDF intensifies its operations across multiple fronts, from Hezbollah's aggression in the north to the ongoing battles in Gaza, one truth remains clear: Israel will never be intimidated or defeated by the forces that seek its destruction. The legacy of these four soldiers will live on in the hearts of the Israeli people and in the continued efforts to safeguard the Jewish homeland.
