The Israeli security forces were kept busy in Judea and Samaria between Tuesday and Wednesday, arresting 12 people wanted for terror-related offenses. The suspects were arrested along with a large weapons cache that was confiscated by security forces. There were no casualties on the Israeli side during the operation.

In one of the more unusual incidents during the busy night, Israel Defense Forces troops secured the entrance of eight Knesset members from the Likud, Shas, and Religious Zionism parties who came to pray at the Tomb of Joseph. during the visit, Palestinian militants shot toward the compound and the soldiers returned fire.

During the exchange of fire, a 17-year-old Palestinian militant who was placing an IED (improvised explosive device) at the entrance to the tomb was killed. It is unclear if the bomb discharged prematurely or if a bullet hit it causing it to explode. While he was trying to place the device he was in the act of shooting toward the soldiers causing the soldiers to return fire. In addition to that incident, a drone belonging to the IDF fell, however, officials say there they do not fear sensitive information being leaked from it as it was a standard observation drone with no significant information in it.

The IDF also operated in the villages of A-Luban and Nabi-Saleh in the area of the Efraim regional council and arrested two wanted persons suspected of involvement in terrorist activities. During the activity in Nabi-Saleh, a violent disturbance developed with the participation of local residents who tried to distract the soldiers from making the arrest by throwing stones and bricks toward them. The soldiers also operated in the city of Bethlehem in the area assigned to the Etzion Regional Council and arrested two wanted persons while locating two illegal weapons.

Another wanted person was arrested in the village of Abidiya. Additionally, the forces arrested a wanted man in Wadi Siman and located a number of weapons in the city of Hebron in the Yehuda Regional Council. Another wanted person was arrested in the village of Danaba in the Menasha Regional Council. The Israeli forces also operated in the villages of Bidu and Beit Deko in the Binyamin Regional Council and arrested the final five wanted persons for the night.

The confrontations at Joseph's Tomb began, as mentioned, at the same time as the visit of Knesset members. The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan who accompanied the lawmakers, said: "We came here to strengthen together for the common struggle in the Land of Israel, a right-wing government is about to be formed and the people elected this government to rule. And we expect the government to return [to the people of Israel] full control to Joseph's Tomb."

Despite Tuesday night’s operations, the Judea and Samaria region has been significantly quiet ever since the “Lion’s Den” group was virtually eradicated through arrests, leading the remaining members to turn themselves in to Palestinian Authorities. While they are being held in the Jericho prison, it is widely believed the militants surrendered to the PA for protection from assassination.
