Militants missed the mark when a Gaza rocket failed to leave the strip

A rocket launch was detected between Tuesday and Wednesday from the Gaza strip towards Israel and landed in Gaza. According to Palestinian reports, the rocket was fired from the Beit Hanun area, apparently towards the Shaar HaNegev Regional Council. An Israel Defense Forces spokesman said: "A launch was detected which apparently fell within the territory of the Gaza Strip. An alert was activated on an application in open areas only."

The failed launch occurred the night after the IDF's operation in Jenin, during which six terrorists were killed, including the terrorist Abdel Fattah-Harousha, a 48-year-old Hamas operative from Nablus, who carried out the attack in Huwara, shooting two brothers from point-blank.

In response, Hamas said: "The resistance in the West Bank will continue and escalate and will not stop until the goals are achieved, which are freedom (for Palestinians) and bones (of dead Israelis)." In the statement, the terror group admitted the use of child soldiers, the statement added: "The occupation stands helpless against the youth in the occupied areas who oppose the ongoing crimes of the occupation."

The Islamic Jihad chimed in too, threatening: "The incident in Jenin is a crime of the occupation. Israel will continue to fail in the face of resistance and it will pay a price for the crimes and aggression that will turn into fire and hell for it. We salute all the resistance fighters who bravely stood against the occupation forces."

Adding to the mix, the terrorist organization called the “Lion’s Den" also added a statement, saying: "We will avenge the events in Jenin as usual. The Jenin Battalion will also take revenge and our people will take revenge."

In response to the Jenin operation, the commissioner of the Israeli police said, whose forces also participated in the calculated operation, added: "I came from visiting the injured soldiers and I'm glad the wounded are in good condition. We have a medium-light wounded person who is receiving treatment and there are several other fighters who were hit by shrapnel but are in good condition."

He added: "A few hours ago, an operation began in Jenin against the abominable terrorist who committed the murder in Huwara. The force arrived at the refugee camp, upon their arrival they opened fire and skirmished at an extremely short distance. The force reached its destination and eliminated the terrorist. In the field, exchanges of fire began with officials More, some of them were injured." Hamas and the Islamic Jihad have been busy in recent weeks calling for an uprising during Ramadan, amid what they describe as the occupations’ aggression.

The retaliation for the successful raid in Jenin continued on Wednesday morning.  Palestinian militants in Gaza set off an explosive device near Israeli soldiers operating on the border with the Gaza Strip, the military said. Israeli tanks fired shells at a Hamas observation post in response. There were no soldiers reported hurt in the incident. According to the Israel Defense Forces, troops conducting routine operations on the western side of the border fence — built in Israeli territory — were targeted by an IED.
