Two soldiers were hit during another Huwara shooting

Two Israel Defense Forces soldiers were seriously and moderately injured Saturday evening in a shooting attack in Huwara. According to the IDF, a passing vehicle containing terrorists opened fire on the soldiers, who were standing at a military post by an intersection, and fled the scene. The Israeli security forces have been reinforced in the sector, and searches are being carried out for the suspects. The IDF is preparing for the possibility of revenge attacks by extremists.

An IDF spokesperson stated that the fighters were evacuated to Belinson Hospital in Petah Tikva and their families were informed. As part of the activity to apprehend the suspects, roadblocks were deployed in the area and checks are being carried out at the entrances and exit to the city of Nablus.

Early Sunday, an IDF military official referred to the shooting attack in Huwara and said that apparently, the soldiers did not have time to fire back at the vehicle in which the terrorist or terrorists were. According to him, the attacker knew the area well, fired seven bullets with the rifle on automatic and managed to escape immediately after the shooting. According to estimates, he fled to the nearby Arab village of Beta.

In the searches carried out after the incident, the terrorist's backpack cache was located, which helped determine the angle of fire toward the IDF soldiers. The military source further noted to reporters that the IDF set up more than 20 roadblocks in the area to disrupt the escape route, but to no avail.

This is the third shooting attack that has taken place in Huwara in the past few weeks. About a week ago, the terrorist Lit Nassar opened fire on an Israeli vehicle in the central square of Huwara, moderately wounding 41-year-old David Stern, who was shot in front of his wife. Stern was armed, returned fire at the terrorist, and struck him.

Three weeks before, at the same scene during the day, the terrorist Abdel-Fattah Harusha shot dead the Yaniv brothers, residents of the Israeli Har Bracha settlement, aged 21 and 19. Harusha fired a large number of bullets at them from a short range through the window of their car. They were taken to Billinson Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. After the attack, about fifty extreme right-wing Israeli activists entered the village, and for more than five hours burned buildings, houses, and property in the town. About two weeks later, the security forces killed the terrorist in Jenin who executed the deadly attack.
