Enlight Renewable Energy, a leading international company in the innovation, development, financing, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects, announced Monday morning the successful operation of the first wind turbine at the “Genesis Winds” farm in the Golan Heights, the largest renewable energy project in Israel. The project, with an installed capacity of 207 megawatts, has been connected to the national electricity grid in recent days and has already begun running tests, with the expectation and hope of reaching full commercial operation during the third quarter of this year.

The "Genesis Winds" project includes 39 wind turbines of the most advanced generation of the Israel Electric company, which are expected to provide clean electricity equal to the full annual consumption of about 70 thousand households and to save about 180 thousand tons of CO2 emissions every year.

Gilad Yavetz, CEO of Enlight, said: "This is a significant and exciting milestone in our journey to realize the largest wind project in Israel and turn it from a vision into a reality. The overhead power line installed as part of the project demonstrates Enlight's capabilities to successfully execute infrastructure projects of national importance while meeting the highest environmental standards. The laid infrastructure will also enable the connection of additional renewable energy projects in the future. "Genesis Winds" strengthens Enlight's position as a leading player in the renewable energy sector in Israel."

Meir Spiegler, CEO of the Israel Electric Company, added: "We are proud and excited to be partners in one of the largest and most important environmental projects in Israel after we finished connecting it to the national transmission network, in preparation for commercial operation. A project of this magnitude promotes the government's goals in the production of renewable energy, contributes to reducing emissions and air pollution, and is a significant contribution to the electricity sector, especially these days when the need for available electricity is increasing."

The news on the success of Enlight’s Golan Heights farm comes just after the renewable energy company signed an agreement with Amdocs to be their source of electricity for their Ra’anana campus. Chen Furman, Vice President of Global Operations said at the time: "As part of Amdocs' global strategy to preserve the quality of the environment and reduce the company's carbon footprint, we are happy about another significant step in Amdocs Park of switching to electricity from renewable energy. Amdocs Park is one of the most innovative and advanced campuses in Israel and in the world, but it is only natural that the energy sources that feed the campus will be from renewable energy sources.”
