Elbit Systems Awarded Contract to Supply Counter UAS Solution to the Netherlands

Elbit Systems, a renowned Israeli Defense technology firm, has recently secured a contract worth approximately $55 million to deliver the ReDrone multi-layer system designed to counter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the Netherlands. Scheduled for completion over the next four years, this contract mandates Elbit Systems to offer several variations of the ReDrone C-UAS system ā€“ including mobile, stationary, and deployable configurations. This deal also encompasses a comprehensive logistical support and training package for the Dutch.

Elbit's ReDrone solution is an amalgamation of various state-of-the-art detection and interception systems. These systems encompass the DAiR radar with superior capabilities, sensors adept at detecting communication signals (known as SIGINT), and the cutting-edge electro-optic system named COAPS-L. When functioning in tandem, these components yield a seamlessly integrated aerial picture, potent electronic attack capabilities, all managed via the unified Shob application.

What sets the ReDrone solution apart is its ability to go beyond the capabilities of standard active and passive sensors. It is uniquely positioned to locate, identify, and track multiple threats simultaneously within secured zones. Additionally, the ReDrone exhibits exceptional prowess in pinpointing, recognizing, detecting, following, and nullifying adversarial UAVs. It does this efficiently across various settings, be it day or night, urban landscapes or open terrains, and under diverse weather conditions.

In a statement following the contract signing, Oren Sebag, the CEO of Elbit Intelligence Systems remarked, "The mounting threat posed by drones and UAVs has resulted in heightened demand for our C-UAS solutions. Leveraging our expertise in radar, sigint (communication signal intelligence), LA, and electro-optics, we've crafted a solution tailored to our clientele's requirements. It brings us immense pride to be selected by the Netherlands, further solidifying our enduring alliance."

This notable contract follows a prosperous phase for Elbit Systems. The company witnessed a growth of nearly 19% in its sales during the second quarter of 2023, amassing around $1.45 billion, an uptick from approximately $1.30 billion during the same period the previous year. In sum, for the initial half of 2023, the company's sales reached an impressive figure of about $2.85 billion, marking an increase from last year's $2.65 billion. It's evident that this surge was primarily driven by the second quarter's performance. The aviation division products, which saw a sales growth of 19%, contributing to $487 million, and the electronic warfare, intelligence, and information gathering division (EW and ISTAR) products, with a 21% sales growth, amounting to nearly $293 million, were pivotal to this growth.

During a conference call with analysts, Bezalel Machlis, the President and CEO of Elbit Systems, attributed this upswing in the company's business metrics to the internal restructuring executed over the past few years. He further mentioned, "We remain on the lookout for more sales prospects within our internal divisions."
