COGAT has provided video of tons of aid waiting to be distributed in Gaza (video clip)

As Israeli military operations intensify in northern Gaza, particularly around Jabaliya, international accusations against Israel have escalated, with claims alleging that the country is deliberately obstructing humanitarian aid from reaching Palestinian civilians. These accusations, however, are being propagated despite substantial evidence to the contrary, fueling a narrative that overlooks the realities on the ground and Hamas's active exploitation of Gaza’s civilian population.

The United Nations, citing unverified reports, claimed on Monday that Israel was preventing food aid from reaching the northern parts of Gaza, according to the Associated Press (AP). The AP further speculated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might be considering a plan to enforce a siege on northern Gaza, aiming to pressure Hamas militants into submission. Yet, despite the noise, the Israeli government has not voted on, much less implemented, such a plan. For now, these allegations remain speculative at best, a talking point driven by irresponsible journalism.

COGAT Denies Baseless Claims, Points to UN’s Own Failures

Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) firmly denied the claims of a blockade, clarifying that the crossings to northern Gaza remain open. COGAT cited the entrance of 30 trucks through "Crossing 96" in central Gaza, contradicting UN reports that suggest these supplies are not reaching northern residents. Notably, the United Nations did not provide credible sources for these claims, casting further doubt on their validity.

Rather than scrutinize Hamas's long-documented history of intercepting aid and food supplies intended for civilians, the UN and the Associated Press appear content to focus their criticism solely on Israel. This is despite repeated reports of Hamas militants hoarding these humanitarian supplies for their own use, a practice that has been condemned globally. The failure of the UN to properly distribute the food to those in need speaks volumes about their management in the region. Accusing Israel without acknowledging their own operational shortfalls or Hamas's documented interference is a glaring oversight, and quite frankly, irresponsible.

Hamas Using Civilians as Human Shields

As the situation unfolds, approximately 400,000 Palestinians are estimated to remain in northern Gaza, with only a trickle of evacuees moving south. But why are so few civilians heeding Israel’s calls to evacuate? A key reason is the active intimidation by Hamas terrorists, who are reportedly preventing the population from leaving. Civilians have recounted stories of physical threats and violence. In one intercepted conversation released by the IDF, a Gazan resident revealed how civilians trying to leave for safer areas were beaten by Hamas operatives wielding sticks and ordered to return to their homes.

This alarming use of human shields is a strategy Hamas has long employed to protect its fighters, intentionally placing civilians in harm’s way to manipulate global perception and stoke anti-Israel sentiment. As the international community rushes to condemn Israel, few acknowledge this ongoing war crime perpetrated by Hamas against its own people.

Netanyahu’s Alleged Siege Plan: Reality or Media Fiction?

The Associated Press reported that Netanyahu had reviewed a proposal to enforce a siege in northern Gaza, a plan said to have been put forth by retired Israeli military officers. While the media has latched onto this proposal, often framing it as an imminent threat, Israeli officials have repeatedly clarified that the plan has not been formally presented to or approved by the Cabinet.

The so-called "Generals’ Plan" aims to create a new civilian administration in Gaza, one free from Hamas’s iron grip. However, neither Netanyahu nor his administration has taken any concrete steps toward implementing it, and any suggestion to the contrary remains speculative. The AP report claims “unnamed sources” suggest parts of the plan are already being enacted, but such claims lack substantiated evidence. The media’s willingness to run with these vague accusations is yet another example of the sensationalism that has plagued coverage of this conflict.

The Dilemma of Evacuation: Civilians Caught Between Two Evils

Despite the IDF’s efforts to facilitate the evacuation of northern Gaza’s civilians to safer areas, many remain hesitant to flee. Fear of poor living conditions in southern Gaza’s overcrowded camps is a major deterrent, with airstrikes and harsh conditions making even these temporary refuges seem perilous. Tragically, Hamas’s coercion only exacerbates the dilemma faced by ordinary Gazans, leaving them trapped between the terror group’s threats and the grim reality of the war around them.

While the UN points fingers at Israel, it should be asking more difficult questions about Hamas’s role in creating these crises and its deliberate disregard for civilian life. Furthermore, the international community must recognize the complex realities Israel faces in attempting to root out a terror organization deeply entrenched within a civilian population. Simply condemning Israel without addressing the full picture does nothing to bring peace or security to either side.

As the military operations continue, the world must remain vigilant in sifting through the media fog and misinformation that often obscures the truth. Assertions of a humanitarian blockade or secret Israeli plans to besiege northern Gaza are, for now, largely the product of speculation and rumor, rather than grounded in any verifiable facts. Meanwhile, Hamas continues to exploit Gaza’s civilians for its own purposes, a reality that too many in the international community seem reluctant to confront.

In conclusion, any genuine humanitarian effort must start with holding Hamas accountable for its atrocities against both Israelis and Palestinians. The media and international organizations would do well to stop stoking the fires of disinformation and focus instead on the realities of the conflict.
