Australian television reports on Israel's retaliatory strikes

In response to rockets launched from the Gaza Strip into Israel on Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces attacked targets in the Gaza Strip early Thursday morning.

An IDF spokeswoman stated that fighter jets attacked a site for the production and storage of raw materials, which are used by Hamas's rocket production system, and a site for the manufacturing of the organization's weapons, which are both located in the center of the Strip. Anti-aircraft missiles were fired at the planes during the operation, but they came out unscathed.

The IDF spokesperson also stated that the attack was carried out in response to the launch of the rocket that was fired yesterday at the communities surrounding the Gaza Strip. A few minutes earlier, around 02:40 AM, a siren was sounded in Sderot, Ivym, Nir Am, and Bari around Gaza. At the end of a situational assessment by the IDF commanding authorities, it was decided to continue with no changes to the current routine, and therefore classes in the schools within the area will take place as usual.

The IDF  further reported that one rocket was fired and intercepted by the Iron Dome. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades accepted responsibility for the attack, adding that it was carried out following the decision to put into solitary confinement Palestinian female prisoners who rejoiced after the massacre in the Neve Ya'akov neighborhood in Jerusalem over the weekend.

"The female prisoners are a red line," they said. According to the Palestinian terrorist group, "female prisoners were brutally attacked. This is an unprecedented situation of repression, with tear gas and police dogs. Attacking female prisoners has extremely serious consequences, and the prisoners' movement in all prisons is preparing to respond to this barbaric behavior."

Just before the shooting from Gaza, the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir ordered the closure of pita bakeries in the Nafha and Katziot prisons, which were operated by the prisoners. This, according to him, is to prevent "benefits" to terrorists imprisoned in Israel, such as receiving freshly made pita bread.

This decision by the Minister of National Security comes after yesterday morning a security prisoner set fire to cardboard in an attempt to set fire to her cell. She did not succeed in this and was taken out of the cell. She, like the rocket attack, did this in protest of the fact that female and male security prisoners were placed in solitary confinement following their celebrations over the massacre in the Neve Ya'akov neighborhood last Friday night, which included applause, cheers, and jihadist chants.
