Blinken Press Conference in Jerusalem in January (video capture from Washington Post)

Israeli reports from Channel 13 News confirmed that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was supposed to make a quick visit to Israel as part of a visit to the Middle East, but decided to cancel.

It was reported that a senior Israeli political official claimed that "it may be a technical cancellation, but the sensitive timing cannot be ignored. The Americans are trying to drop the Iranian issue from their agenda until the elections. They realized that the nuclear issue cannot be stopped without military activity in Iran."

The news of Blinken’s cancellation comes after the Atomic Energy Agency announced that Iran has enough uranium for three nuclear bombs. According to the report, the agency no longer has any questions about uranium particles found enriched to the level of 83.7% in its underground facility in Pardo, and it has completed its investigation into the facility previously exposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to the report, Iran increased the level of enriched uranium by 25% to a level of 60% and continues to violate the restrictions imposed on its nuclear activities within the framework of the nuclear agreement signed in 2015, from which the United States under the Trump administration withdrew. The report states that the stockpile of enriched uranium in Iran is estimated at about 114.1 kg to different levels of up to 60%. An amount of 42 kg of enriched uranium at a level of 60% is enough for a nuclear bomb if it continues to be enriched for military purposes.

A number of Israeli ministries attacked the IAEA for dropping the case against Iran and making room for diplomatic agreements between Iran and the US. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "the surrender of the Director General of the IAEA and the agency to Iranian political pressure is very disappointing, mainly because the information in the file implicitly points to both sides of flagrant Iranian violations of the inspection agreements. Closing the file could have extremely dangerous consequences and it conveys a message to the Iranians that they are not required to pay a price for their violations, and that they can continue to deceive the international community on their way to achieving a full military nuclear program. In addition, closing the file in this way severely damages Saba's professional credibility."

The Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, also added: "The Iranian threat does not end only in their danger of obtaining nuclear weapons, Iran is the world's number one exporter of terrorism with the help of its metastases such as the Revolutionary Guards, Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other organizations. In addition, Iran's long-range missile program is a global threat."
