Former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot revealed during a Sunday afternoon lecture at the Institute for National Security Studies that in 2015 Israel was asked to carry out an attack against ISIS; resulting in the death of hundreds of ISIS terrorists.

According to him, "the ISIS phenomenon took a turn for us in 2015 when there is an event in a certain place where we are asked to carry out an attack on, we ended up carrying out a relatively broad attack and harmed a great many ISIS members."
