Recent reports from media in France reveal a disturbing plot to carry out terrorist attacks at the Israeli Embassy in Brussels during the months of June and August. The authorities successfully thwarted these sinister plans, which involved a group of individuals with alarming intentions.

The suspects behind this chilling plot included two 15-year-old Chechen boys, a 16-year-old French boy, and another individual. Their scheme was nothing short of horrifying ā€“ they planned to arrive at the Israeli embassy in August, armed with knives and guns, with the intention of killing policemen stationed at the entrance and detonating a vehicle loaded with explosives.

According to the police investigation, the four suspects had corresponded in a video game chat and a shared WhatsApp group, where they expressed their malevolent intentions. Shockingly, their stated target was the Jewish community. They declared, "Our target is the Jews," emphasizing that merely targeting police officers was not effective enough. They believed that the embassy personnel considered themselves safe despite the inherent risks of their profession.

The 16-year-old French boy had previously faced disciplinary action at his school for making calls to kill French people, raising concerns about his radicalization. Sources familiar with the investigation have indicated that the suspects had embraced a jihadist ideology associated with ISIS. Furthermore, suspicions arose that the 16-year-old had planned a similar attack as early as June and had considered taking hostages.

The four individuals were subsequently arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism. Two of them remain in custody, while the third was released to his home under restrictive conditions.

This chilling revelation follows another disturbing incident in Brussels, where two Swedish citizens fell victim to a shooting attack perpetrated by a man who claimed allegiance to ISIS. In response, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo convened an emergency discussion, and the alert level against terrorism was raised to its highest level. Prime Minister De Croo expressed condolences to Sweden and emphasized the shared commitment to combating terrorism.

A federal prosecutor involved in the investigation clarified that there is no evidence linking this attack to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Instead, the possible motive appears to be the origin of the victims. Notably, Sweden had raised its alert level against terrorist attacks to the second-highest level in August, warning of increased threats to Swedish interests abroad. This escalation followed incidents in Sweden, including the burning of a Quran and other actions that incensed Muslims and drew threats from jihadists.
