Last weekend, the Israeli Air Force attacked Syria and hit one of Iran's most important offices in the country, according to the Iranian regime’s opposition channel "Iran International", broadcasting from London. The attack was carried out near Damascus on the night between Friday and Saturday and was targeting "Unit 2250" of the Revolutionary Guards which is responsible for transferring weapons to Hezbollah.

"Unit 2250" is an elite Iranian logistics body whose purpose is to coordinate the transfer of weapons and people from Iran to Syria, and to support Hezbollah forces. The unit is also responsible for escorting and hosting senior Iranian officials and their families upon their arrival in Syria, while coordinating with the senior officials of the Syrian regime.

According to the report, the purpose of the attack was to damage offices and equipment warehouses. According to the news agency of the Syrian regime, the Israeli attack claimed the lives of 5 soldiers in addition to material damage. A senior Israeli official told Iranian opposition media that Hezbollah and other Iranian-backed forces are withdrawing from the areas in Syria where Israel is attacking.

The rogue Iranian outlet also revealed the names of senior officials in "Unit 2250". The unit is headed by Syed Racha, Abdullah Abadi is responsible for the transfer of weapons into Syria, mainly through hand luggage on passenger flights from Iran which are assumedly not checked or screened prior to departure from Tehran. The name of the third senior is Meysam Katbi, and he is responsible for the transfer of personnel and weapons between Syria and Iran.

"Unit 2250" is responsible for receiving and unloading equipment, weapons that come from Iran, as well as absorbing new personnel related to the activities of the Revolutionary Guards in the region. In addition, the unit is responsible for supporting the Lebanese Hezbollah forces operating in Syria, while hosting senior Iranian officials and their families who arrive in Syria. The unit always works in full coordination with the Syrian authorities.

The Israeli government and the IDF have yet to confirm their role in the attack, and it is likely they will never do so as Israel rarely talks about clandestine missions and foreign operations. Israeli military attacks in Syria are very common and often take place multiple times a week without ever being reported or confirmed by the IDF. Usually, the main goal of these strategic attacks is to suppress Iranian efforts to establish anti-Israeli militias in the region.
