In a recent incident on Tuesday night, two Israeli citizens found themselves in harm's way when they were injured by shrapnel during a shooting attack on Route 60, near the Palestinian town of Huwara. The assailant, who seemingly opened fire from the roadside rather than a passing vehicle, managed to escape, prompting immediate efforts by IDF forces to track him down. At the scene, evidence of the attack was apparent, with the vehicle's side windows shattered, and a blood-stained tzitzit left on the driver's seat. The wounded victims, en route to an Ishay Ribo concert in Har Bracha, are currently receiving medical care and remain hospitalized.

In response to this attack, a Samaria IDF patrol initiated searches near the location, while the IDF implemented blockades around Nablus and Huwara. Substantial forces from the Samaria Division were deployed along the Huwara corridor and at the entrances to Nablus. Additionally, artificial intelligence technology is being utilized in an attempt to locate the Palestinian terrorist responsible for the assault.

One of the injured individuals is Achiad Liebman, who happens to be the nephew of Eliyahu Liebman, the head of the Kiryat Arba Hebron council. Achiad's father, Yehuda Liebman, conveyed his relief, stating, "We are witnessing a great miracle. Our son, 25 years old, was traveling with a friend to a concert by Ishay Ribo in Har Bracha. On their way, they were ambushed by low-level terrorists in Huwara. Dozens of bullets were fired at the vehicle, and miraculously both were only moderately injured."

He went on to emphasize the gravity of the situation, asserting, "This reality, where a corridor of hundreds of meters becomes a bloody danger zone for the residents and soldiers of the area, is intolerable. This is a continuous security failure. We demand that the security system initiate a large-scale military operation in all areas of Judea and Samaria, enforce strict control over the cities, combat terrorism effectively, and confiscate all weapons."

The incident was reported to MDA's 101 call center in the Yarkon area at 20:17 on Tuesday. Upon arrival at the scene, MDA medics and paramedics attended to "two individuals in their 30s who had sustained injuries from broken glass." Both victims were transported to Billinson Hospital while remaining conscious. Initially, their condition was reported as mild, but the hospital later updated their status to indicate that it was somewhat more severe.

This attack occurs in the context of heightened security concerns surrounding the Jewish high holidays, coupled with an increase in alerts related to Palestinian terrorism. This surge in alerts follows five attacks that have taken place since the beginning of the month, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced in maintaining security in the region.
