The spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has reported a recent incident involving the 188th Brigade Combat Team in Gaza City. During their operation, an RPG was fired at the Israeli forces from the entrance of Al-Quds Hospital. This attack was carried out by a group of terrorists who had disguised themselves among a gathering of civilians at the hospital entrance. The IDF troops managed to identify the terrorists within the civilian group, confirming the presence of two RPG launchers.

In response to the imminent threat, the Israeli forces engaged the terrorists in combat. As the exchange of fire ensued, civilians within the hospital building began to evacuate, while additional terrorists emerged from nearby structures, blending in with the civilians to join the attack. Following the RPG attack, the terrorists sought refuge within the hospital premises.

The IDF's response was swift and comprehensive, involving armored units, engineering teams, infantry forces, and support from the air force. They directed live fire and artillery shells towards the sources of the attack. As a result of this operation, approximately 21 terrorists were killed, and fortunately, there were no casualties among the Israeli soldiers. The IDF spokesperson characterized this incident as "yet another example of Hamas exploiting sensitive locations, including hospitals, to target IDF forces."

On the Palestinian side, reports emerged regarding the challenging situation at Shifa Hospital in Gaza. A spokesperson for the Hamas Health Ministry informed Reuters that "an Israeli tank is positioned at the entrance of the Shifa outpatient clinic." Doctors at the hospital further claimed that "Israeli tanks are within the compound, and snipers are stationed in surrounding buildings, making entry and exit impossible."

It's worth noting that Shifa Hospital had drawn the attention of the IDF, as it is believed to house the central headquarters of Hamas. The IDF spokesperson disclosed that several underground facilities had been constructed beneath the hospital, utilized by Hamas leaders, along with a tunnel providing access to these underground areas. An official at the hospital expressed the dire conditions, saying, "We are struggling to find food, and we have been unable to bury the bodies of the deceased who remain in the hospital courtyards due to the bombings."

The situation in Gaza has been exacerbated by the electricity shortage, worsened further by the IDF's ground operations near the hospital. Concerns have been raised about the well-being of patients in Shifa and other hospitals in the Strip. Despite several Israeli attempts to provide assistance, including the delivery of fuel, Hamas reportedly compelled the hospital to reject these offers.
