The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed a Hamas tunnel under Gaza's Shifa Hospital, where a blast door was discovered at the tunnel's end, signifying Hamas's underground operations. The IDF released photos showcasing the tunnel's entry and interior. This tunnel is part of a larger network the IDF has been investigating under Shifa Hospital.
In the hospital's vicinity, IDF soldiers found a Hamas van with weapons, indicating the group's use of medical facilities for military purposes. Israel has accused Hamas of similar activities in other Gaza hospitals.
The Ministry of Health, in a letter to the World Health Organization (WHO), condemned Hamas's actions in Shifa, citing video evidence of terrorist activities, including hostage-taking within the hospital's premises. The letter emphasized the unethical nature and violation of war rules in such activities.

Have Shifa hospital manager and @WHO personnel who assisted Hamas been arrested yet?

Health Minister Uriel Bosso and Director General Moshe Bar Siman Tov criticized the WHO's Dr. Michael Ryan for downplaying the terrorist activities at Shifa, accusing him of misleading the international community. The Ministry of Health argued that the WHO's negligence contributes to ongoing conflict and suffering by ignoring the use of human shields and hospitals for terrorism.
The Ministry of Health urged the WHO to demand an end to the use of human shields and health facilities for terrorist purposes and to call for the evacuation of civilians and the release of hostages.
The IDF successfully breached the blast door located at the terminus of the tunnel uncovered beneath Gaza's Shifa Hospital.

Meanwhile, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Col. Herzi Halevi stated that military pressure on Hamas aids in creating favorable conditions for releasing hostages held by the group in Gaza. IDF Spokesman Chief Daniel Hagari, addressing a potential hostage exchange deal, emphasized that any agreement would not detract from the IDF's primary objective of dismantling Hamas.
The proposed deal involves a temporary ceasefire in Gaza, the release of about 50 hostages in exchange for 300-150 Palestinian prisoners, and a four to five-day ceasefire. Hagari underscored the importance of relying on official sources for updates on the agreement.

Following the ceasefire, the IDF does not plan to allow Palestinians to return to northern Gaza as the ground assault extends to the southern region of the strip.
