Missiles fired by the Hezbollah terrorist group from Lebanon struck two homes in the northern Israeli town of Avivim on Wednesday, causing substantial damage. The Merom Galil Regional Council also reported that a nearby caravan was set ablaze in the attack.

Fortunately, there were no injuries, though residents were advised to stay close to protected areas as a safety measure.

Further reports revealed that additional missiles landed between Avivim and Yir'on, as well as near the towns of Netu'a and Shlomi, targeting civilian areas. In retaliation, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) targeted the missile launcher sites in Tayr Harfa and struck a Hezbollah military compound nearby.

In a notable departure from standard procedure, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) preemptively announced ongoing operations against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, usually declared post-operation.

Throughout the night, IAF jets engaged terror infrastructure in the Markaba area, a military compound in Ayta ash Shab, and a Hezbollah observation post in Marwahin. IDF artillery also neutralized threats in Chihine and Kfarchouba.

The escalation forced hundreds of thousands of Israelis to seek shelter during the initial days of Passover, following a surge in attacks by Hezbollah, which included approximately 60 rockets and six drones. Some drones reached as far as Haifa's outskirts before being intercepted by IDF air defenses over the Mediterranean Sea.

This recent escalation commenced on Monday when Hezbollah downed an Israeli Hermes 450 drone over Lebanon. In response, Israeli jets struck the launch site and initiated further investigations.

Earlier incidents in February and April saw the IDF striking deep within the Baalbek region and reacting to the downing of a Hermes 450 and a larger Hermes 900 drone by Hezbollah.

During Passover's first evening, around 35 rockets were fired towards the Safed area, miraculously causing no casualties. Israel's swift retaliation included strikes on several Hezbollah facilities and the elimination of immediate threats near the southern Lebanese village of Yaroun.

Following these incidents, the IDF confirmed the elimination of two senior Hezbollah figures involved in anti-aircraft operations, reinforcing Israelโ€™s stance against threats to its sovereignty and security.
